You live in a community with an HOA. The rules are a legal contract that was signed when the house was purchased. It's legally binding and enforceable. They can sue for damages. They can put a lien on the house.

Personally I think you're the reason people's freedoms get restricted in the first place. With freedom comes responsibility. Your car looks like a piece of shit that belongs in the ghetto. Your neighbors have informed you, via the HOA that it is offensive to them, and likely feel it will decrease the property values in the area. I wouldn't want to live next door to your ghetto machine.

You're a bad neighbor. Fortunately for your neighborhood, they have recourse against you. So they will sue. They will win, and you will have wasted everyones time, wasted everyone's money, and will have pissed a lot of people off.

Why? Because you feel you have the right to act like a fucking asshole.

If they didn't have an HOA, you'd be the poster child for county ordinances that don't allow people to have cars that are "unsightly" or in a "state of disprepair". It's douchebags like you that make it where some guy can't change sparkplugs in front of his own house.

Simply put, you are the irresponsible asshole that makes the rest of us have to fight for our freedoms.

Just because you can do a thing doesn't mean you should.

Hes not breaking the hoa rule though thats the whole point. The car is not being stored as he drives it daily. The hoa made the complaint that the car Was stored, not about it being ugly.

How can the OP be in the wrong, if hes not violating any of the HOA rules?

Just curious...

How many of you that support Dale are actual homeowners and not just living under their parents?

C'mon Dale, I know it's your car and you take pride in it, that's good... but you seem to be going completely out of your way to keep it looking like a heap. Sleeper doesn't necessarily mean junker.

Do you honestly expect people who do pay mortgages and taxes on their own properties to react any differently?

Technically, you aren't breaking any rules, as the rules do not state that your car can't look like shit.

The problem is, people tend to expect a certain amount of class from other people - you aren't showing that, so they are complaining.

You are completely allowed to keep your car as it is, but you must be prepared to deal with the consequences (namely, if everyone else hates it, they can displace you.)

yeah i know what you mean. and really, i'm working on that car and really trying to make it look better. its not like i want the car to look like that forever. to be honest its cars like yours, nicks and urbano that inspire to keep building and strive for a clean car. its just a slow process.

This is what I mean. For a MINIMUM of effort, you can make the car non-offensive to your neighbors while still keeping it a sleeper.

All you letter of the law people. You're assholes. Based upon the "letter of the law" I can sit outside your house, all day every day, playing the "Safety Dance" on my radio at exactly 1 db lower than the local ordinace allows. Over and over and over again. There's no law against it. And I can play it until 1 second before your local disturbing the peace ordinace says I have to stop, and I can start it 1 second after the ordinace says I can start.

All day, every day, for a week. On weekends. While you are eating. While you are watching tv.

Would you like it? For fucks sake people. There comes a point where you actually have to live. Everything isn't a war, or a petty little battle to prove a point. This is where the restriction of rights starts. It starts with people who don't have the good sense to act civil.

Be a good neighbor, clean that thing up just a little.

I give up...
no no i understand your point. I am going to clean it up but until i resolve the whole violation of "storing" my eyesore, I plan on keeping it that way. my two next neighbors support me on this and are willing to back me up at the next meeting. i'm pretty sure the people complaining are people not even on my street but the street over. after that the car will in somewhat better condition. like i said its not that i want it to look like that forever.
