the previous owner of my first mk3 was completely worthless. when i bought the car it ran like hell (the car was cheap with good body). i found that it was a leaky intake gasket. the part of the gasket that went around the last intake runner was completely folded over- it had to be put on that way. then i blew the head gasket. wen i pulled off valve covers, half the cam caps were on wrong. im talkin out of order and facing the wrong way. i guess the "I" and the "E" along with the numbers and arrows are pretty confusing. one of the cap bolts was loose. needless to say the cams were pretty ugly. man...i really hate people sometimes.

The previous owner of my car couldn't find his ass with both hands. The engine had a very loud knock (guess someone didn't know how to check the oil level), had a hacked up wiring harness (had the fans and ignition hardwired into the battery), was sitting on makeshift engine mounts (official NHL hockey pucks complete with matching blocks of wood), had the transmission "rebuilt" (recent cause of my 5 speed swap :naughty: ), and to top it all off the car had been sitting in the hot Houston sun so long that the interior was baked. Its all good though, at least i always have something to do.

I just got a 87 Turbo Supra 2 days ago but Im pretty happy with the previous owner because he described the car the way it was, like it did burn a little oil, the interior was beat up, Sun roof did not work and a few other little things.

The things I did like is-that he came down on the price and he also delivered it to my house and not only that he had the original floor mats, he gave me the bra to the front of the car(with the headlight covers), he gave me a Turbocharger that was new from toyota and did not have that much miles on it(with the toyota box and paperwork), He gave me the original sets of Toyota Keys, the TSRM and a few other items which he did not tell me.

+he left tons of coins in the cup holder:evil2: and I found a dollar in the seat:naughty: lol.

I go to replace the spark plugs on the '87 turbo I picked up 2 weeks ago and find out they're all gapped at .38 and the #6 plug wire is missing it's sealing boot. :3d_frown: Plus the #6 spark plug felt WAY over torqued but thankfully no damage was done. Also the gauge cluster was missing the check engine light bulb so I figured he might have been trying to hide something but there's no codes (maybe he just didn't know?). I'm just starting to dive into this car, wonder what else I'll find. :nono:

I also found an unopened pack of Marlboro 100's behind the glovebox. Guess if I was a smoker I'd be happy about that.

Oh yea, just remembered. Someone has changed driverside targa roof bolt = the hole in the targa is made wider + the bolt seems to have a little different lenght (I just noticed, my roof has a little knoll in it, where the ''custom'' bolt is located:cry:) + different size key needed.... WTF?? :3d_frown: And ... it rattles in front of my head when driven without targa:cry:

Was there another thread that was similar to this one? I could have sworn I posted something about my paint...

jj: Never really thought about it like that, but I must say, that sounds pretty accurate.

Lets see,
besides lots of misc oil leaks that were never fixed.

instead of replacing the vsv valve or whateer the heater valve is in the engine bay so your car can actually have heat, he removed and plugged with a rubber end cap. :nono:

instead of replacing seals he used silicon caulk ALL over the car, around all the windows, tail lights, weather stripping, under the spoiler.... Talk about a bitch to clean up :3d_frown:

oh and I have a perfect looking toyota factory jack...but no spare, where the hell is my spare...lol
