I just do not like my previous owner because he changed all the fluids before I went to looka t it, I checked the oil levels, coolant, everything and it looked great and didn't look after the car was warmed up(stupid me) and when i took the car home I checked it all out and what did I find....a nice milky coolant mixture, so we take the head off and find they left a rivet in the hg that they should have taken out, not a big deal. Well, while taking it all apart I found many parts only attatched with one bolt(where 2 were supposed to be). Over all I am really happy with my car because I have all the paperwork on it, the orig. window sticker, invoice, etc. It came with a lot of great parts and I have learned a lot working on the car so far, so I am not too mad at the guy. I just do not like shady people.

If I say the previous owner who DROVE the car, I would stab him in the face.
he ran the car so much without oil that he completely wiped out the crank and bent two rods.
the kid i bought it from was gonna rebuild it but never go to it, all he did was changed the interior from blue to black with black vinyl spray or something, lol.

Holy crap! Are you on JDMuniverse? If you're the same guy my S/N over there is "SupraPete"

the previous owner of mine was a great guy...honest, helpfull, caring, etc...

however, I do have to stress that some of the things on my car are just plain whacky. I don't know if he had intentions to fix it, but the underhood wiring is totally shot, and the deck surface of the block/head weren't machined properly and got me a BHG (which isn't really his fault, but I'd have had it corrected).

otherwise I'm happy with it, and respect the guy a lot. For all that's wrong I can't argue with the price when there's $12,000 of recipts sitting next to me.

Hmmm, well, I got the car in May from my uncle -first car,woot- who is beyond anal and takes terrific care of everything. Except that he didn't have room in his garage so the interior is a little messed up from the sun. He had every single receipt for everything he's done to it since he bought it, all the way down to oil changes.

But, he bought it used from a dealership and I hate whoever had it before him. The first owner apparently had no idea where his wheels were, as evidenced by the numerous chips and scratches on the wheels. And, within the first few year of owning it my uncle had to pay MORE than he paid for the car, to the tune of some $10,000, for things that kept going wrong. Rebuilt engine, tranny, turbo, replaced clutch, all kinds of other absurd stuff. So kudos to him for fixing all that, but what an idiot the first owner was.

The owner of my NA wasn't too horrible, he just skimped out on the basic maintenance for a while before he sold the car...didn't want to put any more money into it... But during the test drive (I was a total NOOB, had never looked at a car before, and had just gotten my license) he rolled the windows down so that I couldn't hear the terrible grinding from the diff, and the brakes...

As for my 87 Turbo :naughty:, I knew exactly what to look for...the guy that had it was around 19-20 years old, and had seemingly good intentions with the car, he was very nice, but the car didn't start. He had tried to replace the CPS (or so he said) and the wiring completely broke off, so I had it towed 70 miles to my mechanic by my house, and got it running (myself, the mechanic just looked at it and the TSRM and said "what a nightmare"...lol) Long story short, it was VERY rough, the targa had one stripped bolt, and would flap as you gained speed, the back seat was torn out, shit all over the floors, interior was ridiculously dirty, couldn't even see out of the windows, the speedo would bounce and make squeaky noises, gas door broken, paint had NO clear coat, was totally baked from the Riverside heat/sun, no carpet in the rear, and totally hacked wiring, including a cheaply installed aftermarket alarm and stereo system...damn that was a lot of work...lol, oh, and It had a BHG the whole time...

As for the things that I am happy the previous owner did (not the guy I bought it from, but the owner before him...)they rebuilt the block (not the head though, kinda strange) and replaced the turbo (supposedly it was upgraded, but I doubt it) and that's about it, everything on that list of problems has been fixed!

I haven't added up my receipts, and have no intention of doing so! :biglaugh:

Uhm, it looks pretty good to me!

I cant complain about the previous owner of my car, picked up the car for $700, with a BHG, and over $40,000 worth of reciepts from the local toyo dealership

well, my car was kept very well, it of course has some wear on it, because it's a 89, and i accept that (i'm talkin about scratches hear and there in the paint, cracked leather seats), other than that, i simply managed to get a lemon... the car was taken good care of, but something went wrong w/ the oil pump (before it fell into my hands, the whole replacement of the cooling system hid the problem from me) so that motor was screwed, so i got a jdm motor, and swaped that in correctly (done by cj and i in my driveway)

other than the scrathes and the cracked leather, the only other thing i didn't like was the crappy 2.5" rusted out exhaust w/ huge chrome muffler

when the car fell into my hands ALL of the fluids were new, new tires, 91-92 wheels, the entire cooling system was brand new too... all work and parts from toyota, BRAND NEW head gasket too... i just have bad luck :)
