I cleaned the winter wheels today. I used Cillit Bang which is rather cheap compared
to regular automotive cleaning fluids. For that result it's well worth the little
extra elbow grease needed.
I also added another coat of paint on the steering rack.

Today I started with the timing belt change.
The current belt looks pretty good and I rather do a planned swap than a
unplanned one. Besides, now I'll know when it was changed.
I'm also changing the water thermostat, water pump and timing belt pulley.

Today I continued a little with the diff and removed the failed seals.
After that I refreshed the parking brakes with all the available parts
that horsepowerfreaks offer.

New parts time :)
Mostly necessary parts but also some that I bought just for fun :)
New seals went into the diff and some new struts for the hood.
It's very nice to do nothing else but open the hood and just have it stay there
at it's top position without falling down.

Among the new parts were both inner and outer steering tie rods and boots so those
got installed.
I also continued on the timing belt change and was able to remove the crank pulley.

Today I finished the diff, but it was not as easy as to put it together and install it.
When I had installed it and was taking a breather under my supra, I got a drop of diff
oil on my forehead. So the seal that I didn't change, the front one is leaking.
So I took the diff down again and changed the front seal too.
I know that it's a bit half-ass since I don't have a new crush sleeve.
I tightened the nut a little further and keep my fingers crossed that it will work.
I will upgrade later to a solid spacer.

In my new exhaust I don't want any regular flanges and I want it to be 3" all the way.
Since my cat. is or at least seams to be in good shape, the only downside is the
dimension. So I decided to weld 3" pipes in both ends.
The idea is to have v-bands for all the connections.

Today I received a set of color swatches for the seat covers I'm thinking of buying.
I think I want the surrounding supports and headrest to be matte black and have the
center parts in gray. I also think I want red double stitching and the supra logo
on the headrest with the same stitching. What do you think?

I also did some work on the exhaust.

I think that using red on the stock seats is to much.
There are already a lot of black stuff in the interior so I wouldnt be adding a third color.
The gray I'm thinking about is like the stock gray as you can see in the pics.

Any updates on the seats? I like your idea of two-tone with red stitching. Gray is just plain boring. Have you considered changing the color of the interior? I think a burnt orange or cat-shit brown would be awesome.

Hello limequat,
I'm waiting for the leather samples. I think I'm going to settle for two-tone seats. If I'm going to change more of the interior, that will have to wait till I'm done with the engine (almost full re-build and upgrade) and the body (re-paint (another red) some side skirts and a fiberglass hood).
Since there already are a lot of black parts in the interior I don't think that some black on the seats will destroy the look :)

I need to skip some updates and jump to what happened today :)
Fun stuff are happening with the engine! I'm keeping the 7M-GTE and making a build of it.
I have already been to the engine builder with the head and block. The head was vacuumed tested and the exh. valves on cyl. 1 was crap, at least the vacuum values.
The block looked nice, but the rear timing cover was not at the same height as the block, it was taller :S
I took the head with me so that I can do some modifications to the combustion chambers and ports. I will also open up the blocked coolant port near the sixth cylinder.

Today I pressed the buy button for some parts.
I bought Arias pistons, Eagle rods, ARP studs for the head and mains, new banjos for the oil squirters and some new dowel pins.
