that japanese guy creeps me out... but uh, any particular reason you say neither? i'm just trying to find out for a fact if the drilled/slotted rotors are just a gimmick or what :dunno:

some people don't like it, some say they crack, etc, etc... i have some ebay rotors (drilled and slotted) and ult pads and they stop great for me. they guy had all positive feedback, so i figured why not since my brakes were very bad and I just wanted something to get me by for now. I'm sure a big brake kit would be a million times better but for what i paid i'm very satisified.

this is what i bought:
iRotors Cross-Drilled & Slotted F/R Rotors
PBR ULT Ceramic F/R Brake Pads

Installed January 15, 2006. So far so good.

Depends on brand. Quality is VERY important with drilled rotors.

Some people just get some Brembo blanks go to a drill press and dill holes and sell em on ebay. Thats not how it works. They WILL fail on you, Its just a matter of time.

If a rotor is gonna be cross drilled it needds to be cast that way. Plain and simple. And they cost $$$$$$$ on top of that

Slotted rotors are goot stuff. Can usually be found for cheap. Thats one of my next upgrades.

some of high end oem manufacturers and race teams use slottled, drilled or both. they wouldn't use it if it wasn't proven effective, especially the automakers since they like to cut costs as much as possible. just my 2c.

Oh no, BTD, They are proven and work wonders. They just need to be made correctly! Not just some bum with a drillpress. Im trying to get a pic of an MR2 buddy who cracked his.

race teams are also primarly out there to sell products. you think all the stickers on the cars are for performance? how about the massive wings on drift cars?

if having drilled rotors on a race car helps to sell they will do what they can to make them work just to help cash in. so what if they crack, after each race they throw new ones on.

that being said, i have brembo Slotted rotors. everyone i talked to said slotted was the way to go so thats where i went. people go drilled just for the looks basically. i went slotted as i live in the desert and sand builds up on the brakes. having the slots helps scrap all the junk off, buying new pads more often isnt an issue for me. they stop amazinly as well.

i think pads are more important than rotors really. stick with porterfield pads and youll stop ok ;)

I would also go with slotted rotors. They help dissipate some of the heat and gas buildup caused by the pads, to provide more consistent stopping power. They will eat up the pads a bit quicker, but that's the compromise for better performance.

Definitely. Porterfield R4S pads made the biggest difference in braking performance on my Talon.

And on my Supra, I am awaiting shipment of Porterfield pads to install with Powerslot rotors on the front.

I think slotted wins. I currently have drilled I got from a guy I saw on ebay. I did not actually buy from his ebay auction, I called him and did it over the phone. He also painted the hub black, and its still black. They work fine and have for the last 4 months. I dont know that the drilled helps anything, I got new pads from him also.

Here is a link to his site. I am not saying his stuff is the next great thing . I am just saying the ones I bought are still going strong 4 months later.

He does answer the phone and I think he is in canada. http://stores.ebay.com/ETOP-LINE

I bought the E-bay I-Rotors kit. You know, slotted/cross-drilled rotors, PBR metal master pads, and stainless braided lines. I was very happy with them the first couple of months. But then...after several very hard stops from slightly higher than legal speeds:naughty: they had warped slightly. They still stop the car fairly well, and the rotors aren't scored or grooved. The pedal feel, with the braided lines was the best improvement (IMHO) If I had it to do all over again, I'd buy Power-Slot fronts, stock rears, good pads like Axis (PBR) or Hawk, and the braided lines. However, if your goals are 500hp or more, you'de be well advised to get a "true" brake upgrade kit, i;e Wilwood/Brembo or the likes. Just ask some of the guys who didn't immediately upgrade, whilst running high hp!:aigo: Adjuster can testify to this!!!:biglaugh:
