im putting my motor in soon and was thinking about the ps lines. i dont have a jza70 power steering cooler. so i have to either run it without the cooler, or run a long hose to the resevor.

so, my question is, do you really need a ps cooler?

Just go to your local autozone and pick up an auto tranny cooler. That's what I did. Install in 20-30 minutes. Problem solved.
just a universal one?

Yes, you do. 1J power steering pumps aren't cheap, and will burn out quickly without a cooler. Ask me how I know.....

how do you know lol? did you do it too?

YES... I used a stock 7M oil cooler and also installed a magnefine filter. It works great.

If you can afford a JZ engine you can afford to buy a ps cooler... :biglaugh:

Just because it hasn't happened to you personally doesn't mean it's not a problem that should be addressed.

run 1, i haven't ran my motor yet but a reman pump cost me 170. I replaced it cause i've heard of alot of ppl burning theirs up quickly. I just replaced it for safe keeping and i am going to either use the 7M oil cooler for the hydro fan & ps cooler. Or i may dish out some cash for a rail cooler from sumimt racing.

thats really cheap! maybe run two of them just to be safe since they are kinda thin, but compared to stock its beefy.

Anyone considered using the tranny cooler in the stock radiator for a PS cooler?? I am trying to fit all the radiators/coolers and I am running out of room. I would like to hear any opinions on trying this.

very good question! i dont know if it would work only because the stock one is air cooled and the radiator is always ~170 degrees compared to air temp so idk?
