Thanks man. Its good to hear some positive words. Yesterday i wasnt sure about this whole thing. Although i offered him $1500 for it and he said "the car is yours". I couldnt pass the deal up. But despite the problems it has it still is really clean and i love it already. :icon_bigg

It's got a little rust but it's not that bad.

I had a car way back when I was going to school back east that you could see the road as you drove through the holes in the floor. Hell, there were places in the body so rusted I swear you could have stuck your thumb though. I one time grabbed a big chunk of rusty metal on the fender well and it just broke off in a frisbee sized chunk. Now that's rust!

the inner fender's rust there alot on these car's.water and salt get trapped where the two inner fender's are spot welded together.chop it all out and rivet a section in then coat it.you might want to pull out the rear quarter panel's inside the hatch to help you get at it

toyota most likely doesn't sell the inner fender's anymore and no aftermarket company's will ever market part's for this car either.you can order a complete muscle car on a pallet though

For every bit of rust you can see there's 10x that hidden from view. :(

Rusty car = parts donor for a good shell nothing more.

I cant sell this, and its so hard to find a clean supra like this around here. And im already attached. :nono:

I have another supra that actually has perfect wheel wells if you can believe it. Im probably going to take them from my old supra and use them. Either that i can do what my friend did to his 240. He cut the rot out and put rust proffing stuff and put new sheet metal with pins in the hole. He said it works really good.

Ok, home now and got to see the video and pictures of the rust. It's bad but we've seen worse. If you have not seen this thread you need to view it for inspiration.

Adams 89 was 10 times more rusted out than yours and just look at it now.

As for the video, to me it sounds as if the timing is off and you need to reshim your valves. Also, were you pumping the gas pedal while trying to start it? If so don't. That only works for carbureted cars. Your cold start injector may be going bad. It would help your fuel pump to have a little more gas in it too. ;)

I still love the car and think it's worth saving. I can't believe how straight the trim is.

Yeah i've seen that thread. Its great how some people have the money for that lol. Well i thought it would help to pump the gas, and it seemed to be working. How difficult is it to replace the CSI? ANd yeah i'm going to get some more gas in there.

At least someone agree's with me about saving her. I'll post some more interior pics. Dude the interior is so clean the steering wheel isnt even worn, or the ebrake, or the center console....or the shifter!!! :aigo: You and I both know how hard that is to find in an 87.

It also still has this little bag in the glove box with the owners manual and a tape of some sort, ive never seen a tape that comes with a supra before. And a little toyota business card in a slot in the front of the bag. :icon_surp

A very clean, unmolested, unbastardized 87 supra. Save her.

You'll problably need to remove the throttle body (piece of cake) to change the CSI. I personally have not had to change one yet.

The reason I'm so partial to your car: 87 Turbo, I was going to fix redo it till I found all the hidden damage.
It lives on in my 86.5 since the entire powertrain and wiring is in it now.

...was an organ donor because it had framerail and core support damage. I reduced it to this and it broke my heart.

Standing in the front of the car, the framerails were bent slightly down and to the right, with the core support pushed in a little on the drivers side. The bumper and header panel did not line up right. See pic

p1065928_1.jpg

I did think about having a bodyshop put it on a frame machine and straighten it out but they could not guarantee that everything would line up like factory and being very anal about that, decided to get another supra and use this one for a GTE donor. You can read the whole sad story of this blue car in my build thread linked in my signature. "What have I gotten myself into?" is the name of it.

Oh yea i've seen that thread but never read through the whole thing. I'll go to it in a while and read through it.

I'll go get some more gas later one, I still have to order a new radiator because mine has a 10" crack on the top of it. So...

1. Replace Radiator

2. Adjust valve shims (have no idea how to do) lol

3. CCI & check timing.

Get it running right, then get it on the road and work on the rot in the wheel wells.

My last mk3 had a similiar hard start problem. Sounded and acted exactly like it was flooded. Mine would flood so bad that I couldnt get it started until the next day no matter what I did. If I unplugged the 5th and 6th injectors (singled out for no other reason than they just happened to be easy to get to) I could get the engine to start and then I would just plug them back in to drive.

When I did my rebuild I put in new injectors and I never had the problem again.
