Dead/burnt out ECU??

Your car just runs bad. If a sensor was bad, you'd know. I've gone thru 4 ecu's in the last 2 years on 2 cars.. and i've never had a bad sensor yet.

Ill get u a pic of what a blown ecu looks like tonight.

well hopefully its nothing too crazy if i have to buy a whole ecu i'll just let it sit until i buy the 2J engine set and get another ecu at the sametime

you can pickup ECU's for $50-100 bucks. Don't get that dramatic.

bummer. except for replacing turbos, a hydro fan line, and me being extremely careless with one of the engines, both of my 1J cars have been pretty reliable.

Just fix your 1J issues before thinking about swapping another motor in there. You'll be happier that you did when it's working right.

blown turbos, fried ECU... Seems like you're getting nailed with all the common JZ problems all at once and I understand that can be pretty disheartening.

It does seem to get mighty hot underneath the dash right there.

Mine doesn't have a top cover(plastic piece). Might dissipate the heat more.

yeah, u just pretty much got every issue the JZ motor gets at once. Dont worry. Once i fixed my beater with the blown ECU, it drove a year without a second of downtime.

i get hit with everything all at the sametime LOLOL the smoking turbo isn't THAT big of a deal i'm still out running everything i've tried to race LOL it just smokes at idle

but this shit is ANNOYING. can't even drive it. haha

Anyone have any ideas on how to replace the green injector drivers inside the ecu? or what their specs are? They are high voltage resistors I believe.

The values are printed right on them... they are just regular caps with a plastic case. go to any electronics parts shop and they will be able get you a set. mine were 70 cents each.

well i got my answer................bad ECU

i plugged in a spare that justin had and it works perfectly.

it still misses bad but thats cause the plugs are fouled out now due to the the other ECU dumping fuel and what not.

I know everybody sees things differently, but I'd be jumping for joy if that was all that's wrong. I can't think of an easier thing to replace on a 1jz than the ecu. The sparkplug cover is harder to replace than the ecu is..........well except for the cost. Dont' let these little things discourage you man. You'll be out spanking more mustangs before you know it. Are you sure you need an ECU? Other than coincidental occurences, what is your reason? Without changing anything, your car mysteriously fixed istelf in the thread at one point.

I was going to say what Jetjock said. That is what happens with fuel cut.

yea im gonna change the oil before i drive it again after fixing/replacing the ecu

yea Nick its the ECU it didn't MAGICALLY fix itself i put a different ECU in and it runs now, to me thats changing something which is telling me its the ECU.

after unplugging it and plugging his in it ran fine minus fouled plugs (i know what that sounds and feels like) so while i did that i let my bad ecu discharge like a friend told me to try. i plugged it back in and it ran decent but not GOOD for about 5 mins then messed up again and went back to the same shit in my vid.

a friend of mine thats big into DSM's is sending me to Jestr Tuning in Orlando so i should be dropping it off on Saturday morning or friday evening. should be around 30 bucks to fix it. SWEET
