pulling the motor tomorrow...

i ordered a gasket set and got it today. it says 7m-ge. the ebay auction listed it as a turbo 7m-gte set. im using some of the gaskets/seals. definatly NOT using the headgasket because i have a MHG. what do u guys think? is it safe and okay to use the rest of it?

Pulling engine today...

Well we are going to have fun with that after work.. As for thursday I have an eye doctors appointment, so I don't know what that is going to do to me and my schedule.

Can you post an Ebay.com auction number/link to the auction you won. That way others can review it.

Thanks Tyler,

anyways,i broke my motor mounts so check out my wtb thread ASAP or let me know if u have some stock ones for an 89 7m-gte. thanks! more to come, including pics!

BIG UPDATE:

So we started the engine pull process. i have several pictures. my whole goal for this project was to fix oil leaks and fix the knock sensor problem and any other problems that we could find.

ended up braking the altenator tension bolt, BOTH motor mounts, and found out i had a toasted knock sensor. [not to mention all of the oil leaks]

not to mention this sucked alot because the only time to do it was at night time. and today it rained. the engine is ready to be dissasembled to start a-fixing though. enjoy!

So tonight after you left I got a little anal and kind of reorganized the mess we had going. Now we have a nice organized work space again!! Not to mention a table for all your parts, that's right your turbo isn't sleeping on the ground tonight.

Anyways everything is back in my normal organization and should make at least me happy.

:hsugh:

Peace,

also, when i turned the motor over, oil started to poor pretty steadily out of the valve covers or the spark plug galley. it was kinda wierd because i had drained the oil the night before. might just be left over, but my spark plug wires/plugs are still in. so i dunno, might just be emptying it out. could be a problem?

im still awaiting the new knock sensor and the motor mounts. once the stuff gets back from the cleaning job it will surely be more assembled with more pics!

thanks for viewing, and enjoy!

My favorite part of today was the oil was pouring out of parts of the head that should be leaking oil...

What does it mean??? Well I thought about this after you left. Oil may have leaked into the spark plug wells when you had those bad cam cover seals. So after a leaking for a while they more than likely created pools of oil in your around your spark plugs, then empty when urned over. Take Sharpies MX-6 for example. I don't think it was a bad thing though, just something that happened as a result of those leaking cam covers.

Hey maybe now that they aren't full of oil your car might run better!!

oh, thats a shame.. no one has posted yet and i actually pulled the motor and have been tearing into it :(

parts are at the machine shop getting hot-tanked to get it all cleaned up nice and deep like. i sent in the oil pan/bolts, upper and lower intake plenum, exhaust manifold.

i will also be painting my heat shields with a high heat engine paint. they will be done in a flat black color. hopefully it turns out nicely!
