Kenny, It's temping to grab two of the dented ones from you. But, hell, we can't have the same wheels! What is this nonsense!?

So, I've been looking @ these cheap-o's .. in gunmetal.

and I *JUST* realized that they ARE the same rims. What the hell. I've had them bookmarked for over 5 weeks now. Nice taste!

How long is that store credit good for? Could you run with the bents for a while since they're free? Then you could keep saving and add to the credit when something comes up that you like? Gives you time to look around for a while, maybe?

I thought they looked great! I don't think I would have noticed the dings if you hadn't pointed them out to me!? Run them free suckers while you save and shop!!

I have to agree with rob on that one kenny. my only problem is what do you do with the boogered ones? sell them? it's kinda hard to sell just 2 rims.

Oh well. At least I'll get to find something a little more to my liking...

Thanks Ron. Here are other considerations...

Hey CajunKenny,

I really like the Riviera's. I think the "retro" type mesh rims look awesome on the MKIII. After a lot of comparing, I decided to go with similar rims (MRR Design GT1). Look them up and see if you like them.

Good luck!

As for the gauges- what do you think about this? It's free space cause I'm sure you never use the ashtray anyways...
It may be a fairly dirty install, but I'm sure you can make it look clean with a box like you've been using.

That may be a better alternative. I'd sure hate to get rid of my change holder though... ;)

Well, they want to get this thing resolved as quick as possible. So do I! I told them that I would think about it over the weekend and let them know on Monday.

You're right about the dents. I think most people would never notice it. What I'm leaning towards is letting them try to mount the two new ones. If they mount them successfully...great! If not, I'm going with a different wheel.

Believe it or not....all of them are already spoken for! Crazy Supra guys! :)

Thanks! Those GT1's look nice. After much looking and MUCH consideration though, I think I've decided on a wheel that would be easy to keep clean. I guess I'm getting old and lazy! :D

Thanks for the compliments Devin!

I'm glad to see that your cooling problem is resolved. I would like to have seen Brass End Tanks instead of Plastic; but, meh......this rad should you for a while.

Keep the rubber side down! :)

Ok. My wheel fiasco is over!

On the third try, they were able to get them mounted without denting them. They ended up returning two of them to the factory so I only ended up with two extras instead of four. All said and done, they ordered two fronts and six rears. Those knuckleheads...

From 3 feet away, unless the light hits it just right, you can't even see them. One of the wheels only has one dent. There are no scratches, only dents.

So far, two people have shown interest in this set. If the first person decides against them, then I'll move on to the next. If they don't want them, then you'll see them in a FS thread.

Here are pics of the dents.

No, it's not bad at all.

And yes...I'm glad that's over with! :)

A little bit of an update on my car. I'm currently pricing out the following:

Adjustable Cam Gears (OBX and Fidanza's are most aesthetically pleasing to my eye)
SS Tubular Exhaust Manifold
Coilovers
Custom Downpipe by JB Metal Works
Working out Water/Meth details

It's funny because I'm already thinking how I can make my car faster! :) Did you decide what to do regarding your cams?? Upgrading?? ;)

For this sickness......there is no remedy..... :D

I'm going to run the stock cams for now. Later, I'll move up to a set of 264's.

ken I had a brain fart about your timing contorl not working. Of course with out a dial back or digi timng gun we cant be 100% but ... When tuning, every motor has a MBT value for every point on the map fuel/timing. The goal is simple, get to MBT with out detonating on the current setup/fuel. A steady state dyno is used and timng can be dialed perfectly. Now lets say your cars MBT at 4500rpms at 200kpa needs 15* of timing. What happens when you go past 15*? If your not detonating, your power increase will plateu and flatten out with minimal gains. So if you saw 20* with the maft pro and pulled 4*, your still above MBT. What your dyno showed is what you might expect. No power drop off because you are still in the motors MBT range. Meaning timing control may very well be working. The extra timing can be from a few things but I'd honestly expect your setup (and others similar to it) to be over advanced. The results are minimal power gains with the detonation threshold closer then it needs to be.

Good stuff...

I didn't mess with timing control at all on my last dyno session; but, the session before showed that it wasn't working because we saw no loss of power when removing timing. Boost, afr's, etc... stayed the same and timing changes via the pro yielded no evidence of changes via the dyno.

A handful of us are getting together for a 'Dyno-Day' next month. That will be the ultimate test; but, I'll play around with it on the street and see if there is anything noticeable with the adjustments.

I'll give you a call tomorrow...

I started a thread in the Photo section; but, my build thread has to sport these pics too. Right...? ;)

I took them yesterday just after a good washing.
