The Volk RE30's look like they would be easier to keep clean. I like the others too.
I am surpirsed you had problems at Discount Tire, I think that is where Rob had my wheels and tires put on and I have not had any problems.

They've treated me just fine, they just can't seem to get the wheel mounted...?

The Volks are nice; but, pricey... The others do look like a maintenance nightmare!

Sorry to hear it ken, did they reimburse you for the wheels?

The wheels are still on my car. Tomorrow after work I'm going to head down there and pick out a new set so they can get them ordered. They're going to reimberse me 100% for all four and apply it to the new ones. If there is a price difference, I'll gladly pay it.

What I don't want is to be charged for is mount and balance of the new set. I figure that's the least they can do for my trouble...

So, I just got back from Discount Tire to have my two rear replacements put on. They boogered up the first two rears when they mounted up the tire...

I thought no biggie, just get me a couple new ones and we'll go from there. They did, and again they boogered up the lips...

Argh... So, then they tell me that the XXR 502's have a pressed on lip with no underlying support and they cannot be mounted without denting them. I'm like...HUH...???

All this means that I'm back in the market for a new set of wheels. I'm considering going with a set of Thicker 5 Spoke Gunmetal with a Polished lip. Or a set of Gunmetal Honeycomb type with a Polished lip.

I'm definitely staying away from XXR's though. ;)

This is what I'm thinking...

No, way...the tire store is pulling your leg. I've had tires mounted on all sorts of wheels. Each of then never got damaged. Also, I know a local guy, first hand with XXR 502; he was able to get tires mounted onto the wheels without a scratch. (Btw, were your wheels upside down on the tire mounting machine? That's how they're suppose to mount it).

I thought you were gonna stay away from XXRs. You just posted up a pic of XXR 962.

But how about some XXR 521? http://www.nlmotoring.com/XXR-521-Wheels-s/1521.htm

^Yep. That's an XXR; but, I was referring to the style. Not that particular wheel. I should've been more clear...

The wheel was upside down; but, the clamps that the lip slides in to is what dented them. The dents look like hammer claw marks. I should take a picture of the damage...

I like some of the 521's. What I'm looking for in a wheel now is Deep Dish, GunMetal or Flat Black, Thick 5 Spoke or HoneyComb type...

Based on that, do you have any other suggestions Rodel?

The XXR 521 comes in all the colors you want and it comes in 10" +25 offset.

My other suggestions...in the same price range as XXR. Replicas are getting better. If I had to pick one, I'd go with the Rota G-Force.

les schwabs when they mount nice rims they do it upside down but they also have plastic covers they put on their machine to make sure they don't get damaged. but it is definately good that they're going to reimburse you the money

Keven has the ADR M-Sport, 18x9.5 +35(r) and 18x8.5 +35(f). They're available in gunmetal and black, I think.

http://www.victoriatire.com/wheel_SPECIALS CAR_ADR M-SPORT SILVER_TOYOTA_SOLARA SE, SLE 99-07_18_18

or

http://www.adrwheels.ca/msport.html

They cost a bit more, but the Enkei Racing Series PF01, RPF01, GTC01 and the NT03+M are the lightest wheel for the money that I have found, but they don't have the deep dish I know you want. The ADR's, at 27lbs for the 9.5's, are pretty heavy. My Enkei's, for comparison, were ~20lbs. for a 18x10.5.

IMHO, heavy wheels suck, unless you prefer looking at the car over driving it. You should come drive our Supra's to feel what I'm talking about...

Ok. So, what would you guys do?

What they've offered was to give me the four boogered up wheels for free and they guarantee that they will get the next set mounted without damaging them.

My other option is to go with a different wheel. I found out that the ones I have are a Two-Piece setup. XXR offers a One-Piece setup that I like.

I'm just on the fence on what to do...

Kenny, why not see what they can do. Give them another chance to prove themselves. They seem to want to resolve it in your favour. At least you won't have to shell out any more cash. Good luck whatever you choose!

I'm kinda confused by the "What they've offered was to give me the four boogered up wheels for free and they guarantee that they will get the next set mounted without damaging them." Are they offering to reimburse you for the damaged rims? Or do you just get to keep them as-is?
Personally I can stand a little damage (they're going to get damaged anyways I figure) so I would likely keep them if they were giving me the money back for them, you can't beat free rims. Save that money up for some even nicer rims when the time comes. imo

If I go with the other XXR set I chose the price difference is $60...

Here's a quick rundown. ;)

1st Mount: They boogered up the two rears.
2nd Mount: They boogered up two more rears.

They've boogered up a total of four rears. (18x9.5)

One of the things they're offering me is to bring in a third set of rears that they "Guarantee" they will mount without damaging and then give me the four already boogered rears for free.

On a side note... I got a new gauge pod. I'm thinking that I should've ordered two single pods instead. I just can't seem to get this to look the way I want it to...
