Thanks for stopping by George. Unfortunately, there isn't much new except that I received my Cam Gears. There will be pics of new goodies being added soon. I was out of town all last week and have to leave again this weekend. The Supra has been on the back burner... :(

Ok. Two things are happening. I'm adding an additional water temp gauge and installing my adjustable cam gears.

I'm headed for the dyno on the 16th and hoping for good things! On to the pics...

Here is the temp probe install. Next will be the cam gears.

Is that an additional including the stock one or additional including another aftermarket gauge?

I put my probe in the same area you have yours. It is much better because you see what the engine is doing before the thermostat incase it fails to open.

Keep that healthy 7M running.

In addition to the stock one. Well, I have one plumbed in to the bottom of my radiator; but, I'm not sure that one counts. ;)

Just checking in here, too!;)

What cams are you running again? Are you planning some cam timing changes as well? I'd be interested in what your experience is if you "play" with the timing with bigger bumps... especially if you do it ON a dyno with objective feedback!

G/L on the target power!

I'm running the stock cams. My main goal is to get the cam timing done and if I have time left, play with engine timing.

The plan is to get a baseline at ~12 psi of boost. Then tune the Intake Cam followed by the Exhaust Cam. I'll post up baseline data then the overall gain achieved from tuning the cams. It should be interesting.

You're going to hit 400whp man. You made 367whp without cam tuning and all the recent work? That's great.

Once you make 400whp drive down here so we can race! I'll buy you a beer and we'll hit the Orlando speedway (in that order) ;)

Thanks for the confidence Mike! Heading down that way...That would be one SERIOUS road trip! Hopefully, I'll be able to take you up on that offer! :)

Well...these OBX Cam Gears are less than par. The machine work is a joke! The set screws won't set, the adjustment part of the gear won't adjust because the set screws are binding, and even if those problems weren't present, they still wouldn't work because they sit too far back and hit the rear timing plate screws. (was that a run-on senence...)

I'll definitely be posting a review on these gears...

At any rate, here is a pic of my first of many modifying stages in order to get these gears to work. This is trimming the screw heads down so there's adequate clearance in the adjustment grooves.

Poopy.
The engine builder had to shave the rear timing plate bolt heads about half way. ~3mm remains. Must be a routine thing with adjustables, I've got Fidanzas from a gb years ago.

Thank goodness you have the gear to take care of it, plus, isn't the joy of customizing cars the inside knowledge of the difficulty of attaining your finished product, by your own will??? ;)

Well, I'm glad to know that it's not just the OBX's that are this way. Those are my very next steps. Cutting down those bolt heads and trimming the cam gear set screws.

Thanks for posting that Dave. Informative AND elegant! ;)
