Do you have pics of your car up anywhere? I'd like to see it. We 91's are few and far between!

Going 1j!??!?! Traitor! ;) You'll miss the torque; but, yeah, that's a pretty easy swap. In a perfect world, I'd like to have three of my car. 1j, 2j, and 7M. :biglaugh:

So, you're running the 20g? I'm moving away from that turbo. It's a really great turbo; but, I've got a bigger one on the bench now! :evil2:

Finally got done with the valve stem seals. That job is by far my least favorite to do. It has also been the single most time consuming part of this build so far.

I HATED EVERY BIT OF IT!!!!

Here's 10+ year old valve stem seal carnage...

I decided to replace the EGR Cooler Gasket. Good thing too! There wasn't one there at all! :aigo: Whoever rebuilt this head needs to be punched in the neck!

And here's where I stopped for the evening. The cam saddles have all been lubed and the cams are set in place awaiting caps and torque. I'll try to finish this part up later tonight. We'll see...

hah well ill be making a build thread sometime this week when i get my better camera working. re assembling the 7m is just too much and can't afford it. i picked up a local 1j for real cheap thats assembled and waiting to be put back in. but judging by the looks of it my 7m parts won't sell so maybe some day ill pick up another mk3 shell :)

Cool. I'll be watching for your thread.

Eh...you'd be surprised what people are looking for. Put your stuff up in the FS section and it'll go. But if not, once you get your 1j in, then you can build the 7M here and there to put back in when the 1j needs work.

Orrrrrrrrrrrrr.....pick up another shell. YES!!! That's got my vote! There's nothing wrong with owning two supras. After all, I own three! :)

^No kidding! I'm focusing on the 91. She's my baby. ;)

Once that's back on the road, I'm going to put the engine in my 87 in to my 89 and put the 89 up for sale. Then take some choice parts off the 87 and part it out.

That's the plan anyway...

Today, things are starting to look pretty good. I got the cams torq'd in and most of the front portion of the motor assembled.

Take special note to my newly painted rear cam cover, cam gears (I still have to mark the timing marks in white), and polished lower timing cover.

I still haven't decided whether to paint the water pump pulley in blue or flat black....

Here's a motor mount bracket all cleaned up. I didn't know they were aluminum. It's amazing how different things look cleaned up!

Here's a LIPP soft line turbo return flange.

And here's the turbo oil feed fitting.

Here's my new OBX Power Steering Pump Pulley. Also note, the power steering bracket that I "semi-polished". Hopefully it won't rust too quickly!

p1481017_1.jpg

This pic shows the whole front and if you look in the upper left corner, you'll see a flat black thermostat housing and flat black power steering hard vac line across the front.

I also got the new upper timing cover on. Thanks Fred! :)

At this point, things are looking pertty....

Looks very good! Glad to see you put the shop rags to use, you should be getting some more this week. Let me know about the ATI, it 's a good add.
Happy New Year!

Very Nice! I can't wait to see this thing sitting the engine bay. It's going to be a whole new look!

Still toying with the ATI idea. I know...I need to just do it and get it over with! :biglaugh:;)

Looking good Kenny, I like the rear timing cover being painted.
Sorry for never getting back to you about the Cams. I am thinking of selling the entire set up for 13 or just keeping it for a cressida dd. I think I would have asked 400 for them anyway.

Thanks! The color is Rust-Oleum "Old Ford Blue".

And no sweat on the cams. They're a bit out of reach for me right now anyway. I just want to get this thing back on the road and feel that new turbo spool!! :)

Ok. My first hitch in the giddy up.

The new turbo has no mount for the dip stick tube.

p1482005_1.jpg

So, I had to fab something up. I decided to use some aluminum bar stock I had laying around. The brace clears everything just fine and is quite sturdy.
