Mine is just about broke in and if I baby it, and I do mean baby it, it's getting 21-23 mpg with my driving being mostly highway. My problem is taking off from a light. I just can't keep it from boosting. You should see how fast my economy on the supermonitor can go down.

One good way to increase mpgs is buy cheap tall narrow hard as rock rubber high milage tires and fill them to thier max air pressure. But then why would you do that to a Supra.

better gas milage? here's what you do.
-redesign your combustion chamber to fit a direct injection injector
-install high pressure pump and standalone

the stratified FSI injection in european audis run as lean as 60:1 in light load applications.
that sounds like some good gas milage.

i know that e85 is worse, but if i could find a source cheaper than gas i'll take it. i know ij made a kit for his supra, but it was all handmade.

E85 well never be much cheaper the amount of energy it takes to make makes it less cost effective in act in time it well be far more expensive and dont beleave all the media say its geared to blind people from the truth most of the time.

you want cheap this well be as cheap as it ever gets ever
try this its just a starter site http://www.water4gas.com/2books.htm im not goinng to star listing all kinds of sites but try youtube too. there is lot to learn but dont expect much help in less you find the right type of forum for this and then youll just get tips , on this kind of thing it seems everyone tries to keep their secrets since STAN MEYER got killed when he figured out how to get his car to run on just water alone
the mileage isn't really double with the simple kit you can make it your self to but if you do some research bmw is exploring and the military and nasa are already using this type of technology

i put in a little more than 10 gallons of gas.
and ran it to almost empty
at 170 miles :(
17mpg

i think somethings messed up with my engine. i was/am leaking oil and my timing belt is getting replaced, so that may have something to do with it.

It was $64.24 for me to fill up the tank in the Supra today, sad times :(.

Man, I wish to have such prices here, it would be like a dream come true! Mine cost's 139.77usd to fill a supra! Thank god for such prices, as I dont even remember when such prices ware here... :D

Oh and 65.22usd cost's me to fill my DD AYGO (35litre tank).

Not only you have cheap fuel but also higher average salary, so whats the fuzz about? :)

As for economy, just buy a normal small daily car and be happy ;) I have Aygo, which puts out 52mpg and I'm pretty satisfied.

BTW, friend has Tahoe and he spends more then 2k usd for fuel a month, and he cant even sell it to no one, no one buys here such ridiculous gas guzzlers these days :D

dont daily drive your supra thats how you get better mileage. ive filled up twice in 6 months

The key to saving money at the pump, is not by changing the way YOUR CAR uses fuel; but to change the way that YOU use fuel.

I've been walking to work every day now for the past few months, and that has made a HUGE difference in the amount of gas I consume each month. I know that walking to work (or to the store, etc) isn't feasible for a lot of people; but how about riding a bike? Still too far? Then how about a motorcycle? You can find a decent used cycle for less then $1,000, and those make great commute vehicles + get two or three times the mileage of a Supra.

Point is, if you really want to make a difference at the pumps; you have to make a difference in your lifestyle. Any change you might see by trying to make changes to your car, is peanuts compared to the difference you'll see by making changes elsewhere.

E85 is an econimic nightmare, but that whole conversation deserves its own topic, but I will give you two words: Sugar Cane.

Snake oil and conspiracy theories...ahhhh, its what the internet thrives on. Please dont tell me you believe that water fuel crap.

I spend less than $40/week on fuel in my DD....because I dont DD it.

id be a fool to not beleave it when nasa and the military are useing this technology but i forgot you and I are smarter then people from nasa

also look on youtube for old news footage theirs a guy who has already done this, and thats why it was on the news

if they/you can make a car produce power with water and methanol then why not water and gas and your not running the car on water your running it on gas vapors from the water

so yes i beleave in it why not and do your self a favor and take a look at this weeks popular mechanics issue and keep up to date and yes sugar cane would be good but the amount of energy and land that has to be leveled would be detrimental to the environment

You'd be a fool then.

These machines simply break down the water into hydrogen and oxygen.

They do work.

There is a sucker born every minute.

Nasa uses fuel cell technology not a car battery, a couple of electrodes and some baking soda. Do you really think that setup actually produces any usable amount of hydrogen? Creating hydrogen takes energy, and since energy can neither be created nor destroyed...

oh forget it, I dont want to sidetrack this thread or debate the laws of science. When you have a Supra that runs on water let me know. I'll buy two.

edit: And if this line in that advertisment isnt a dead giveaway I dont know what is: "We open the door for you - Welcome to FREE ENERGY!" (hint: there is no such thing as free energy)

so more on shutting down cylinders.

is it hard to just cut 2 cylinders of the 6 when you don't need them or do you have do rework something more?

i've been thinking about getting a smaller car. maybe even a geo...if only they weren't so damned ugly... and they kinda look dangerous too. :(

get an older toyota corolla, they get great mileage, are dependable and dont look like junk on wheels.

Some things to think about on shutting down cylinders. The crank is still pushing the same rotating mass and compression creates resistance. Those things would have to be taken into account and are designed into engines that use that kind of technology. Also, doesnt the air/fuel mixture provide a certain amount of lubrication to the valve train and upper cylinder/combustion chamber?

does anyone know what the gas milage reduction is with the targa down? i always wondered, but my odometer doesn't work so i could never try it. i believe it would have more of a impact on highway milage.

1000% true. That's what the oil co's have figured out: "Higher salaries and cheaper gas than Europe, what is the US consumer bitching about"? So I'm keeping my dd (44 mpg) no matter what.
