Meat is so good, I could never go vegetarian. I'm on a rather strict diet right now (no salt, no gluten, etc but meat with every meal) and I lost about 10 lbs in the first 2 weeks alone, and I feel great. In my mind the only reason to go veggie would be for ethical reasons, i.e. to boycott the unethical treatment of animals, a la fast food cows and chickens. But sadly one person can't make much difference in that area by thoughtful restaurant selection...there are more than enough people that will gladly take your spot in line at Burger King!
I guess to be more direct, I would say we're omnivorous by design. The modern American diet consists of so much fatty, salty, sugary shite though, vegetarianism may seem like the most healthy way to go, if in fact you are choosing vegetarianism for health and not ethical reasons. There are other healthy alternatives as well though. I feel your pain in finding foods that are ______-free (in your case meat, my case gluten and sodium).
In any case it's getting harder and harder to eat healthy. I can at least respect and commend you for watching what you eat. :icon_bigg
