But sadly one person can't make much difference in that area by thoughtful restaurant selection...there are more than enough people that will gladly take your spot in line at Burger King!

If you can't save the world, you can at least save your part of it.

Most vegetarians I know do it for themselves, not to "save the cows/chickens/etc."

I would like to eat more organic/free-range food, but there's not a Harry's/Whole Foods nearby, so I'll do what I can until then. :p

Yay for steak!

Justin, you'll have to excuse me if I don't understand how a vegetarian can smoke as much as you do or do any smoking at all.

If it's gross to bite into meat, how can you put a rolled up pack of carcinogens in your mouth?... I don't get it, seriously.

Im not asking to change the world, Im SAYING its hard to go to the store, and find a meal without meat in it. why cant they make the SAME meal WITHOUT meat on it? picking meat off of everything is lame. and theres alot of Veggy's in the world.

In the United States, an 2003 Harris Poll conducted for a vegetarian organisation, found that 4-10% of the American population calls itself "vegetarian". However, only 2.8% of the population never eats meat, poultry, or fish/seafood. The rest are "occasional vegetarians", who sometimes eat meat, or avoid red meat and eat poultry, or avoid those, but eat fish. The estimation is that 1/3-1/2 of the 2.8% is also vegan.

Specifically, the percentage of population that indicated that they never eat Meat, poultry, fish, seafood, dairy products, eggs or honey was 1.8%.

Additionally, I'll bet that the vast majority of those people were located in places like California or New York. You profile says you are in Idaho. I'll bet vegetarians comprise less that 1% in your state.

In other words, there aren't enough of you for companies to care about.

So the statement:

Isn't all that outrageous. You are a member of a statistically insignifigant group, engaging in a odd behavior. Why cant they make the same meal without meat on it? Because 99% of the customers don't want it...
