Are electric fans worth it?

My fan shroud has recently exploded in my face and whilst looking for a replacement... I have began thinking about replacing the whole damn thing with dual electric fans. I just have air and spark mods done to my car as of now, and was just wondering if getting some electric fans was worth it. Will I be able to notice the difference? Are there any other model specific fan manufacturers for the MKIII besides Flex-A-Lite? WHAT WOULD YOU DO? Any information would be great... THANKS.

Flex-a-lite Black Magic fan off of a foxbody stang works wonders according to what ive seen and they flow pretty damn good for being so big.

Buddy has one on his GT40 7M setup :)

After all the trouble you get into trying to make them work right, set the thermostat, hope they don't fail, no its not worth it.

I have a elc fan on mine, and have never had a prob. BUT I also have a PWR radiator as well. If you do go elc, just do it right, have the fan work off a relay so it won't smoke some wires. It's just really a personal preferance, some will praise the stocker, and others will be glad they got rid of that messy dirty clump of crap that robs hp!!! IMO

never had an issue with electric fans 200k+ miles

At idle the electric fans pull more air than mechanical unless you rev the motor but then that means more heat being produced. ;) People that had issues with fans usually had a bad pressure in the system. Ask me how I know ;)

Just like anything in life, if you do a crappy job installing electric fans, you'll get crappy results, and vice versa.

I went electric after the fan clutch exploded taking out my radiator, shroud and fan, hoses, water pump, and gashing the hood.

Haven't had a single problem with the electrics in about 5 years and ton of miles. On a stock sized radiator, even up in the mountains where you easily lose 30% cooling capacity due to the thin air.

But it's probably safer to go with the stock setup, unless you know what you're doing. As long as you can trust that evil fan clutch. :icon_conf

Hmm...I know this is an old post, but unlike many others, I SEARCH.:) Question for anyone who can answer this...My stock 10 blade fan was chipped and cracked to death due to arms, fingers, sockets, wrenches, etc.;) so I put on an NA fan. Would this by chance be a bad thing? I hope not...It seems to run just fine to me if not a little bit cooler at times.
