For me and my combination the 1.06 is perfect I couldn't ask for a better match!

Less mods and I'd go for a .82 and don't think I'd bother with a .63 as I think it would surge like a very surgy thing!

What would you suggest for someone who will be leaving the rev limit stock? I'm looking into getting one of these down the road and am not planning to spin this motor past what it does stock.

The .82 should be cool at stock redline Loki, I went for the loose AR to give it room to breathe up top.

I think from memory there is a 400 rpm difference in spool.

Mine makes 1psi at 2200/2300 and 1 psi on a 3540 is noticable!

Yep my .63 GT30R was going positive at 1400.

People get hung up on "Full Spool" but that's only part of the story, As I mentioned before 1 psi on a 35 makes a big difference and around town is usually more than enough to keep ahead of the traffic.
(how many times do you redline in day to day driving?)

I always try to make my cars as drivable as possible and this is the first time I've taken a risk by going for such a big AR, I'm glad I did though as it's a brilliant combination.

I am looking into this Turbo from what I have read on here I have a few questions I thought I had wanted the T4 flange with a .82 AR I have a dealer I was going through and he told me to go with a .63 AR he told me that the T4 flange combined with a .82 AR would be very laggy he also advised me that the T3 housing would make the turbo spool faster but for the manifold I want(megan) I would require an adapter which is no big deal but I would rather not have to make an adapter.
My goals are a fast spooling turbo that will make 550-600 hp which route is best the T4 with a .62ar.82ar or the T3 with a .82ar
I am retaining the stock rev limit the engine is built with JEs and the head has been ported/polished, FFIM,I have an aluminium flywheel with an aluminium drive shaft

It would be interesting to compare the nozzle sizes between a 1.06 T3 and a 1.06 T04 GT Turbine housing, I can't imagine they'd be any different I believe it's only the flange that's changed.

If the 04 housing has a bigger nozzle the Wheel would have to be bigger to get the same AR so I'm not sure what your supplier is on about....
(As far as I can find there is only 1 wheel size)

i plan on this power level on ump gas and am going to sell my current turbo and got wit ha gt40 hybrid. itll have the gt4082 turbine wheel and 0.68a/r housing and the gt4088 compressor wheel and gt cover(polished of coarse). should have full boost ~3k rpm and make 550-600rwhp at ~20psi on 93 octane fuel. though ill have water injection hooked up as well so hope for over 600rwhp at 25-28psi with the water injection activated. but im crazy like that. hehehe

Well im lookin into the GT3582R and from what ive read in this thread if i got it with the .82 A/R exhaust housing it would get positive boost around 2krpm, and prolly full boost by no later then 3krpm, is this correct? also i was lookin at the compressor map and it looks liek it would be efficient untill above 25psi unless i was rading the map wrong. basicly im just trying to find out when this turbo will make boost on a basicly stock motor, i kno IJ is spinning to 8 grand so thats y he chose the bigger a/r, but on a stock redline how does this turbo fair with say a .63 or a .82 a/r housing? im lookin for a fast spooling turbo thatll make in the neiborhood of 500 or so horsepower, but i dont wana run out of breath on the top end.

One more thing i keep seeing the gt35/40r thats just a gt35r with a gt40 compressor wheel correct? how would that turbo compar to an off the shelf gt3582r??

GT40R has a larger turbine wheel, 77mm as opposed to 68mm for the GT35R.
And the GT40R compressor wheel is lised as 63.5mm inducer and 88mm exducer where as the gt35R is 61.4mm inducer and 82mm exducer.

Then again it depends where you buy it from, some distributors make hybrids, those are the numbers from garrett.

Take away the R (ball bearing) from the GT40 and looking at the 82 version, the compressor wheel on the GT35R is slightly larger inducer, same size exducer but the gt4082 has a larger turbine wheel size. Essentially the GT35R and GT40-82 are the same wheels (very close anyways) but the GT35R would be a better choice with the ball bearing...
