IJ, how come you have a manifold with for an external wastegate when the turbo you have, has an internal one?

sorcereur: I thought about cutting it off then decided not to as I have an idea for a part throttle open gate to help with drivability if needed (ECU controls it at low boost keeps the gate open so there's minimal backpressure then at a preset throttle % it slams it)

I'll wait and see how it drives before doing it though as it may not be needed.

I'll just blank it off for now.

Update!

Ok I've had my first hit out in anger with the GT3540R on my new 7M!

Where do I start......

I'm only running 10 psi right now, more to come soon.

It goes positive boost around the 2200 mark then will make it's 10 psi by 3000/3200 and hits HARD, I'm running the 1.06ar turbine housing as this motor will spin to 8000.

Driving impressions: It's an amazing Turbo around town you can keep it out of boost easily but have instant response if needed, I'm a bit old school so a 3 litre motor and an old T04 based turbo with this sort of power potential would have been a fire breathing nightmare!

Not so the GT3540 the car drives like stock idles in traffic then when you step on it the Jeckyl and Hyde thing happens (Or the Incredible Hulk thing) and it turns my placid well behaved Mk3 into a rocket ship! :D

IJ have you had any surging issues or have you heard of any surging issues with this turbo on the 7m?

i suspect with the large housing youre running you personally probably arent having a problem...but what anyone running like a .80 or less?

Let me just say you guys are fuckin crazy.

I've decided the GT3076R (http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbobygarrett/catelog/Turbochargers/GT30/GT3076R_700382_12.htm) is the turbo I want to go with for a bit over 400rwhp, though getting the .63 A/R because I want it to be a 100% street beast and I <3<3<3 torque. I'm thinking it'll spool sooner than a stock CT26, but even then I dont have much experience with stock CT26s since I spooled mine maybe once on the silver car that was running on pure luck alone..

I just want the most I can get reliably out of 93 oct. so not much more than 20psi if that

I wouldnt mind getting some Toulene now and then though, just would like to keep it easy

Orion: I ran a GT30 .63 ar on a stock 7M last year and while it's a fun turbo it will choke, a .82 or 1.06 is a much better choice.

GT's spool very differently than T04's.

Demianu27: For me it's 30 years of experience LOTS of research and reading and a bit of skill and luck!

Prepare for the old folks home! lol...

But yeah, Demian, read... Read read read... And then, read some more... Then ask questions, no matter how dumb you might think the question is, ask it... Then listen to people who know... Look at what people are using... What's PROVEN to work... Take the advice when you get it... Dont ask us questions and then not follow through because you may not like the answer... If one of us gives you a direction, follow it... We wont lead you wrong... One of the beauties of the Supra family is that we all want each other to succeed! I want IJ to succeed as much as he wants me to succeed as much as I want YOU to succeed! So yeah, read alot, ask alot of questions... :D:D:D
