No words, just four letters: TSRM. Toyota Supra Repair Manual. Read it, refer to it, and if you have an iPhone, bookmark the URL on your home screen. Android device, there's an app in the marketplace for it. INFINITELY more useful than asking for advice in your own build thread. Every nut, bolt, fastener and electrical connection is covered. It's the only book a Toyota mechanic will open when working on your car at the dealership.

That said, the 7M isn't an interference motor; ie, the valves don't occupy the same space as the pistons will at top dead center. Therefore, you can't damage the valves with a bad job like some other motors, however, following the procedure in the manual will get it right every time.

whats up eli, its me Tom. if you're having trouble with the timing, just carefully take the distributer apart and set it back at 1, then set the cams straight up to where the lines are marked and then you turn the crank to 0. everything should be at top dead center after that. by the way, im the guy that bought parts from you guys

Love that baby blue color of your supra.. My first car was my supra too and i was 17 when i got it tho.. 3yrs and 15K later and i still work on it just about everyday! Your supra will become an addiction haha.. always more you can upgrade.. But IMO i would ditch the 7mge and gte sell them and then buy a na 2jz from a sc300 gs300 ect. It will have more power than the ge but wont get you in much trouble and will be good to learn on for driving skill wise. and then turbo it down the road.. You can get complete na 2jz's with ecu and harness and everything you need to make it run for 300-800 bucks.. plus they fly right through emissions.. just an idea..

ok man. let me list a couple of popular things you might hear. Ill try to keep it simple. The very first thing you must own, is A TSRM.
If your going to keep the 7M series engine & want to go GTE.

1. Get a 3" exhaust. Which includes 3" Elbow + 3" Downpipe (or the two combined in one) & 3" inlet/3"or4" outlet muffler.
2. Get a GTE Harness & ECU.
3. If you don't already have, Get a Turbo, Turbo manifold. IC Piping, IC.

As for a 5 Speed with a 7M. Go R154. You'll need the R154, & the R154 slave & master cylinder, & lines.
Get a LSD. Get the right DS. Go single piece if you can. As for the Pedals, you have the walk through here.

You'll find all the guides & gurus you need on Supramania no doubt. But just don't forget to use the magical "Search" button. Because i'm not the one thats going to bite you for not using it. But im preeeeeetty sure there will be many others that will. GOOD LUCK MAN!

Go and make a bank account and a debit card kid. Stash atleast half of your check for rainy days. I was completely broke in high school because of my damn supra. Getting your license is a big responsibility if you get the urge to do something stupid do it on private property. I missed out on a $18/hour job at Toyota because of ticket from high school. If you want to get in the automotive field i suggest you hire an attorney if you get a ticket. My supra made me miserable through school, but that doesn't have to be the case for you if your smart and learn from me.lol

BTW, i didnt go turbo until after school.

Fyi clutch kill switch is a waste of time. It takes all of about 30sec to remove the connector and jump it. Cutting the power to the fuel pump is what you should do.
