Unless you want pre-detonation go for it :p . Otherwise yes it's a must. There's a number of ways raising boost but considering if you're using stock afm and 440s your fuel cut will limit how much boost you want to ideally target.

Assuming nothing is wrong with your 7mtge (lol) you could use a manual boost controller (under 30 bucks) to get the boost up to 12-14 psi depending on the condition of the engine, altitude, so on. Again that is as long as the engine is in good condition and you re-torqed, fixed, or already have a new headgasket.

Don't need tuning if you want it in stock form but it wouldn't hurt. Stay 7mge untill you get that 7mgte disassembled and rebuilt, then and only then would I swap it in.

In general you wont need a dyno/tune untill you start messing around with piggy backs or stand alone ecu's.
Yes using a manual boost controller will give you some more power, and yes it will help you destroy your engine faster.

No offence, but with as little as you seem to know about these engines I would stick with the 7mge because it will be slightly more forgiving.

I don't think it's him not understanding the engine itself but the general understanding about engines, turbos, intercoolers etc not blaming him considering that his still young. A bit of research and reading and you'll understand abit more (I believe everyone went that way)

Check to make sure there are grounds on the intake manifold. Sort of under it by where the upper manifold bolts to the lower. Should be 2 white wires and 2 brown wires that just get bolts to one of the open holes by them selves.

Read both of these articles, they really helped me when i didn't really know how an engine worked. When you exactly how your engine works, when something breaks it allows YOU to actually diagnose and fix it. I'd also recommend taking an auto class at school or even just going to a shop and asking to watch. It's one thing to read about something on the internet, its a WHOLE other ball park when you actually have a piston in your hand. Id recommend just putting a 7mge into the good car, and get it running strong. Get a feel for the car, learn to drive a fairly fast rwd car, and make sure everything else works properly(brakes, suspension, drivetrain, ect) THEN think about upgrading to a 7mgte. Im only 18 and have a good mass of cars, so its def doable, but takes a lot of time and research.

How an engine works
How turbos work

Childersburg AL,
one of two things could happen to this supra, i think we all know what they are.
please do your homework, a solid foundation is key when building a supra.
