Here is what were chasing

With the pos(you will see below why) timing cover removed.

For $150 you get JUNK. The cover after 1.5 years, and less then 2K miles is already cracking. I am going to send ATI a email about this.

After getting everything removed the problem became obvious.............. My engine builder installed the seals backwards!!

AND photobucket's web site just crashed or something.. I will post the pics in a min, once it is back up.

^^^^ I think so, Only thing I can think of is that he installed the seals in the cover first then bolted it to the block. Other wise there is no way you could press in the seal backwards. There's no face to press from if the cover was bolted on first. O-well, live and learn. The old saying stays true, " If you want some thing done RIGHT, do it your self " .

Unless there is something Im missing and Toyota installs there seals with the face of the seal in toward the block and the spring out, away from the block?

Oh man, you started without me! I got the seals from Toyota just the other day, but it's been way too cold out here to start working on the car.

Yep pretty sad. And yes im also how little the leak was. One good thing is at least it wasn't catastrophic failure, or a mad oil burner like some of his other engines he built ;)

Well the new seals are in & hopefully installed the " correct " way-direction, lol. Yes the outer edge was pre lubed with lithium grease, and the inter sealing surface with Mobile 1 synthetic grease.

Almost back together now.

Lunch, I mean beer time and take the Vette to the car wash. I need to enjoy some of this sun shine were getting.

lol! I'm really thinking your suck lean is causing your suck idle condition. I started my car a couple times and it idled quite well at 13:1, at 32degF...

Man I wish I had the time to get around to doing my front oil seals - what's the trick you use to get the crank pulley on/off? I'm afraid to crank on it with the auto sitting it park. The TSRM of course says to use a special tool, but there's another way I'm sure!

I had a crank pulley holder, Schley 64300. Brace a breaker bar against the frame, then take another breaker bar on the bolt and lean back and crack goes the bolt. Works every time, and don't need to take out the radiator. Just remove the fan and shroud to give enough room ;)

I've done a timing belt using this tool in about 30-45 minutes. 2JZ took me a little longer but only because me and my buddy were taking our time :)
