Umm.........................., I bought new oring kits for the 550's today, drove it 2 miles to the gas station to fill up the tank this passed weekend. That is about it.

With the crap weather I haven't drove the car much (or time to install the lex and 550's). The Slow-pra that is held together with "duck tape, super glue and thrown together", pretty much gets driven maybe once a month now, when the weather is very fair and when that happens to fall on a weekend. Plus with the seals leaking a little it just gives me another reason not to drive it. I'll prob just hit Steve up to R&R them. He sounded interested when he stopped last friday.

This weekend Im planning on installing the 550's and lex, that is as long nothing comes up.

Drew says that he got Viton seals, and the fact they came with condoms for install supports that idea. If they actually are viton seals, they are superior to the OEM rubber seals. I have heard of silicone valve stem seals, but I have no experience with them. If all else fails would go with OEM.

No need to over night them. I wrote down all the part numbers I need, but.......umm..... I forgot where I put that piece of paper, lol. Let me know when you have a free day, we could either R&R it up here or you can take the slopra home.

Also depending on how this winter goes, I want to take the R154 out and apart to replace seals in it. It also leaks pretty good once warm. I also might need Jedi guidance from master Steveness since I haven't have a clue on how or what when it comes to the tranny.

Yes it is one of my biggest pet peeves, when my cars/vehicles leak oil!!!:: angry ::

Haha - $5 says my valve stem seals are even smokier than yours are Rob!

My valve seals are fine and no smoke here except what comes from the tires ;) One of the front seals (around the lower timing cover) is leaking, that is why I have to leave dippers on the garage floor. Either the back timing cover, front crank, oil pump drive shaft, or cam seals is leaking I think. I figured since it will be apart, just replace all of them.

All thou of the "Jim Hall" disease we had, I will take what I have/had over what you had to go threw. But it still pisses me off $6K++ in the stupid ass engine, it shouldn't leak oil from the start.

I sent Hundo (drew) a text msg, and he had them at the store the next day. Only I kept forgetting to pick them up until a week or so later, :icon_surp

Well since I like to see pics on updates (or lack of) here are a couple

p1580593_1.jpg

Must be a universal kit since there isn't any need for the large oring in the plastic bag.

And just because a pic of the sup that has been sitting in that spot for some time now. Maybe if it is nice tomorrow I will drive it to work, we'll see.

Actually the packaging mentioned that they were Viton as well.. I ordered them through work here.. in fact my build thread has after-market part numbers that I've used.

Fixitman- Rob got his Injector seals through me as well they are Borg-warner seals and the PN is 274531

When I needed rings, I went in to my local marine turbo place, and asked for the o-rings and they didn't even charge me. Then, I needed an oil fitting, and they gave it to me too. HOW DO THEY STAY IN BUSINESS!?!?

lol, build is looking good man!

Shouldn;t you be a work with NO internet right now :p

All I know the fail-pro ones that Jim install have never sealed from day one, so this time around I will go with Toyota ones and some one that knows what the hell their doing (Steve).

Thank you bud!

Ya some businesses are still friendly out there, since it would cost them more in time to ring up a 1 cent oring. Rather help a guy out in change he will return to buy other parts some day.

Yeah, you guys are thinking way too much of me- I'm just a kid who can kinda fix stuff sometimes...:dunno: But rear timing cover leak would be full-o-fail. So what all seals/gaskets would you want fixed? It sounds more like I'm going to want to drop the whole drivetrain and do it all at once... Theoretically we could have it done and over with in one weekend of good work.

And overnighting parts from Toyota doesn't cost any more at my store, it just sounds cool. (stuff will be there by 10am as long as the ON order is placed before noon, and the parts are in the CHI PDC (which most everything is usually).

Wow your car is coming out great, oh did the heated seat option come with a switch? In the owners manual it says the supras had the option of heated seats, would be cool to have it OEM lol

Ya they did. IIRC only in Canada and maybe Europe models (never made it to the U.S.). The switch was mount where the TEMS switch is. The BIG problem with that is they were a SUPER RARE option even were they were available, and is no longer available from any Toyota in the world. I believe Duane, Jeff Lange, or one of those guys up in Canada has one laying in a box, next to a bunch of other "rare items" for a supra.......

Mine, they are all aftermarket. It was a kit I bought with the new leather. The kit came with everything including the switches Im using. Where I mounted them was the "cleanest look" I could come up with.

Thank you for the complement!!! Very much appreciated

Well this summer I would like to replace the "front" seals / timing cover area (all of them for good measure) , since that is where the engine oil leak is. Once fixed I will re look at the tranny and see if it is leaking or is just engine oil making its way back to the housing.

Re-post for Rob's referance...
My clutch is a Spec stage 3+ with the spec pressure plate and the stock flywheel. I read about lots of aluminum flywheel users welding the clutch to the steel insert, so I would say stock or spec chrome-moly only.

pic: http://www.vividracing.com/catalog/images/specstage3plusclutch.jpg

If you want to take it for a test drive, let me know- I figure I owe you one for letting me drive yours last summer! FYI, I'm also using the stock TB with its progressive linkage in place. (I'm loving this long-runner FFIM! :D )

EDIT: Drew- what's with the "Can't compete with that" thing? Are you talking about the overnight parts or did I miss something?

Thank you bud! I have been planning on staying with the OEM flywheel for the weight and momentum it gives at lower rpm's. Nothing better then smoooooooooooooth. When time comes I will have mine check and surfaced.

I believe Drew just dont have many extra hundo's to spend on his sup yet....?????
