I own a 89 mk3 with very minor mods. Well where I live there arnt any imports, I am the only one within 30mile radius with a supra. Most of my friends drive 5.0 stangs and are constantly bragging on them. Well yesterday I finally got all of my boost leaks fixed. Then I took it for a ride to one of my friends house with a 91 5.0 with 3:73 gears, headers, B&M shifter, and CAI. Well long story short we met out on a 3 mile straight away. From the stop sighn to the chevron sign is a quater of a mile (this is where all of the races go down). We raced from a dead stop and I waxed his ass by 4-5 car lenths TWICE!! When we left my friends now have a different point of view of the Supra.

What do you mean when you say bolt-ons? I have yet to see a stock 5.0 motor w/bolt ons make anything close to that without some new internals like a cam. I dunno though maybe if you got TB, EGR Spacer, Upper/Lower Intake, CAI, O/R midpipe, breathable catback, UDPs...you might get close to 300.

What Bolt-Ons did you have?

Her old setup was heads, cam, upper and lower intake, longtubes, h-pipe, CAI, maf, TB, 3.73s, tko, a short shifter and a timing adjustment. I rode in the car, and it was strong, but i think it might have been 350 @ the crank.

Yea that sounds like a strong car...definitely a 350HP car.

Usually a cam and heads is not included in the bolt-on list...

It just falls under the "Mustang Stock" list, but then again, so does a 331.

Depends on the engine, mods, driver, exhaust, etc...I am not really familiar with Supra's but what HP would you expect from those mods?

A built 306 is nothing to take lightly.

if you want to build a real fox you need need to go a 351w block. they make lots more power a camed 1969 with a intake and carb 351w can make around 400hp at the flywheel. not bad in car under 3000 pounds. btw i have a extra 351w block 60 over if any one wants to the swap in there supra.

Yea...if you want to make a low end torque 1/8th mile car then go with a 351.

The 306 is a screamer...306 can make the same HP just at a higher RPM. I have known some 306 owners to redline at 6500-7500, which is crazy for a domestic V8. They are a different kind of animal. They make great 1/4 mile and highway cars.

Yea but then you are looking at the total time to get the larger rotational mass of the 351 to those higher RPMs...the 306 is just a great all around block.

I am not saying the 351W is bad...just that it is a heavier motor that requires more to get it moving. It makes a great, strong bracket car or quarter car but lacks the upper MPH and upper RPM that the 306 shines in.
