All it is is a cat-back. How can you tell it's stock?

i would assume he is saying that bc of how quiet it is..or how quiet it seems to be in the video. sounds good. but most people cry about how the rs-r is too loud. yours doesnt sound as loud as most rs-r's do....which is why i would guess that the other guy thought it was/is stock

lol, I think it's loud. My jerk neighbor called the cops on me after I made this video. It was only 8:30PM. Anywho, I plan on getting a re-routed DDP and test pipe, but that might not be for a couple years.

Head design is going to make a fairly large difference, too.

I think most of you guys referring to the "2JZ" sound are talking about the higher pitched raspiness you generally hear from them.

Guess what? Build a 7M, go nuts on the valvetrain, get a tubular manifold and a big single and you'd be shocked how similar it'll likely sound. ;)

Nuh mine never did ;)

My 7M still sounds pretty much the same after all kinds of changes to the valvetrain and ex. manifolds. Still noticably different than a 2JZ or 1JZ.

stroke has a lot to do with it, If oversquare was ideal the big boys wouldnt run 3.4 kits on their 2Js, or even make one for the 7M for that matter.

I <3 the sound of my 7M nice and throaty but enough pitch to it so people know its no V8

I love the sound from the 7M, i've built a 3" system with 2 full flow mufflers, you hear that its no whimpy little 4 cyl :)

Step on the pedal and the engine sounds like it gonna eat the cars around, you hear the turbo spool and know its about to kick you back, and then the gate opens and all hell breaks loose :evil2:

Honestly have never heard a 7MGTE sound "bad", they always sound deep and grrr. I don't really have any experience with 2JZs to compare the sound with, except George's stock twin 2JZ car, and yeah it was a bit different.

I hate how high pitched my 6M sounds at higher rpms

I honestly think a 22RE sounds better, and deeper than my engine. Bah.

I'm probably going to do a 3" exhaust eventually and see if I like it (it's 2.5 now). And no, I'm not going to boost my car so I can get a deeper exhaust tone :sarcasm:

someone with bulk coin should make one of these, slap it in a mk3, and then sell it to me for cheep

now dose that just sound awsome or what

there's two guys here in sweden that have fitted individual throttle bodies from a BMW M5 on their 7M, there going turbo though but it would be cool to try it without the plenum :icon_bigg

I like the sound of my 7MGE when the exhaust isn't leaking, sounds nice just cruising, sounds mean when you step on it(even though its not) Replacing the pacesetter muffler with a Magnaflow soon, possibly a better resonator to make it a bit quieter.

sounds good. what exhaust is that? is it the RS*R prototype? it looks kinda like it(not the GT-2)

Thanks, Its a Tanabe Super Hyper Medallion, its really quiet until you get on it. I think youre thinking of the RS*R Invidia they look very similar ive heard the RS*R flows a tad bit more than the Tanabe but thats all just hear say lol

Yeah, sounds quiet. I've got a 3'' DP + Test Pipe + Blitz Nur Spec which is pretty comparable to the RS R, and mine is way louder..not loud enough to my liking however:3d_frown:

As far as the ticking sound goes, it gets faster with rpms and it seems to be coming from around the 3000 pipe general area. I don't know that much about engines, what could it be?

A million things...not really.
Maybe a leak somewhere on the Intake manifold? Valvetrain probably..
I didnt notice a ticking sound, try n capture it better with an engine bay video!
