Ok guys, here it is, I got proof.

I called TMC parts department today looking for some pricing. I'm currently rebuilding my entire MKIII and every once in a while I go to toyota and buy a small lot of parts, work on the car then get some more. Well, I'm looking into buying a new short block and possibly a head. Of course the rods and the pistons will be replaced with after market ones. The guy drops the bomb and tells me is $3200. This is pretty high considering I just had purchased a 2JZ-GTE short block for a project dragster last year and plus, this is a 7M (older). So I asked the guy, how much is a 2JZ-GTE and he says $2800.

So I guess by toyota pricing at least, 7M is better, because is worth more. :biglaugh:

Just thought I'd share that. By the way a cyl. head shell is $1500.

HellsLegion I'm not sure how to take your comment. Do you mean 2JZ sucks cause is cheap or you really mean 7M??? which doesn't make sense 'cause 7M is more expensive than the 2JZ.

Dam!!! are you serious!! I used to work in the parts department for Toyota, and if I remember correctly the microfiche showed a price of $4,700 for the shortblock! Either way its freakin outrageous unless your a balla!!!

$22,000 for a brand new 1 or 2UZ I think it is. I think I can get a 426 Hemi for $13,500. Stick that in your Tundra!

No, that is just Toyota's way of telling you not to buy the 7M because it's out of date and they don't want people buying it anymore so that they don't have to support it.

*holy crap! A lot of people replied before I got my reply in!

the way i figure it is that everyone is buying the 2jz blocks and building them for whatever and not a whole lot of ppl buy the 7m so the price hasnt come down

2jz mass quanties compared to 7m limited quanties

just my .02 cents

The 7m block is very srtong strong, but the 2jz has a shorter stroke, meaning less area that can flex, because the mains are closer to the cylinders. Plus the 2j block is way more beefy in the area around the cylinders. One of the flaws of the 7m IS the long stroke IMHO. Sorry 7m block, you loose to the 2j.
