I road race my 88 turbo which had the 3.91. A lap time at my track is around 2 minutes. I put 255/50/16 tires on it one outing and lost about 4 seconds (larger than the previous 244/45/16s so I lost torque). Then I got a 4.10 and with same 255s, recovered the 4 seconds.

By calculations, the 4.10 and 255 combo is the same as the 3.91 and 245 combo. This is real, measureable proof of the difference between the 3.91 and 4.10.

Sure, that's easy to say but not everyone wants to drive around on drag radials all the time.

It's common to have traction issues in low gear with a decent amout of hp but you knew that.

i do think that drag radials are a must for any car that is going to be in some form of drag racing situation. when i said "u" i wasnt refering specificly to u, i mean people in general. i never said that the tires should never lose traction but if its to the point as soon as u come into boost the whole back of the car goes up in smoke, then bigger tires are prolly needed. i was also refering to bieng at the track.

so from in geting is that the 4.10 is the best gear ratio for drifting oem wise.

is there any other gear ratios that hasn't been talked about that will fit in the mk3 pumkin. i heard of some people using truck diffs on there mk3s. im asuming there ever smaller the the 4.30 or close it ot right . with thesmaller gears wouldn't the have a diffrent temp.

I have a 4.30 in my drift car and it's great. Keeps the turbos spooled. It's easier to manage the powerband while drifting also because there arent these huge gaps in rpm when you shift.

the only ones i have seen for the mk3, are the 3.73(89-92 turbo) , 3.91 (87-88 turbo) 4.10 (jdm only) 4.30 canadian non-turbo

these are all lsd's, with the exeption of the 4.10 those are torsen style,

but as far as all the listing that jaw's put out, im willing to bet if you clicked over to their site you might find more info on where you can find those gear sets.

i personaly went from a 4.30 open us, n/a diff to an 88turbo diff, the turbo diff the car is actuly faster since im building boost sooner in my auto. 75mph is right around 2800-3k in over drive..

it's decent out of the whole, but half track is where you start really picking up speed!

i guess the real queston you should be asking is, what size are the gears we should be looking for?

~edit~
when i went into you site, i found what i thought would be it, but 7.5inch.. then the taco's where running 8inch..

but for a buck and a half, that's not all the bad of a price.
