I road race my 88 turbo which had the 3.91. A lap time at my track is around 2 minutes. I put 255/50/16 tires on it one outing and lost about 4 seconds (larger than the previous 244/45/16s so I lost torque). Then I got a 4.10 and with same 255s, recovered the 4 seconds.
By calculations, the 4.10 and 255 combo is the same as the 3.91 and 245 combo. This is real, measureable proof of the difference between the 3.91 and 4.10.
