We toyed with the idea, when pulling the 7M out of my 90... told the fiance we were gonna "not only" turbo her 94 N/A, but it would be single... right off the bat.

She wasn't very happy with that idea and promptly made sure that I did not "toy that way." :-(

i would be happy to see enough mk3's to fill a class. the more people participate the more they can cater to making more classes. personally i dont care where a 2jz swapped mk3 races. no matter what you do someone is gonna get butt hurt.

Tissmo, you did not answer my question on the other forum..................

This guy wants to run his car at the meet, it's got a supercharged small block, should he be allowed also? I just curious on how you guys feel about this?
(Note: the sawblades are only on there because it was a tire roasting event, normally runs slicks)

Great post dude. There is NO WAY to make everyone happy. The drags are a blast, but are anly a small portion of the Nationals. Meeting cool people and having fun is what it's really about.

you hit the nail on the head sir...PARTICIPATION...

i have spoken with peter about this and he said he is willing to make it three classes for the mk3 modified super modified and unlimited (the first two would be for engines that came in the mk3 stock and then set per rules and regs of last year, while the unlimited is run whatcha brung anything under a mk3 shell is allowed).

IFFFFFF there are 8 people committed to each class... meaning you would need at least 8 racers in modified, 8 racers in super modified, and 8 in unlimited.

i cant possibly find a problem in getting 24 mk3s to line up and we should have enough people in different areas of modification to fill each category.

so the question is.... thats the ideal situation....people step up and make it happen...and it would not only go to make pretty much everyone happy BUT would go a long way in showing once again the mk3 can represent at large meets as well. seeing 45+ mk3s in one place last year was just AWESOME.

i just wish i could come. id line up w/ a 2j'd mk3.

i think participation is a catch 22. there are several rookie drag racers and/or have a lightly mod'd car. they dont want to look "dumb", esp if they had to line up against a much more powerful car. but at the same time without the participation you cant make more classes.

its time to get out there and have fun! dont be so concerned about what others think. i have more respect for someone that goes out there and races, even if they stage with the rear tires, miss a gear or run a 14 sec et vs someone who bench races and talks crap all day.

A Mk3 is a Mk3. Running against Mk4's is dumb because its just not an equal race. The day you bought an MA70 you started at the same place as everyone else. Whatever route you took to make that car haul ass down a track I don't care. Whether you have a blown small block or a 2J, its still a Mk3. The only grey area in my theory is cars like Slow66's. However it doesnt matter what class that thing runs in...I just wanna see the video:icon_bigg

BUT if that was the case...yes i would say for it to run in the mk3 class accordingly.

Then why have MKIII and MKIV classes? If thats the case they should change the classes to be engine specific, NOT generation specific.

I.E. 7m class, 2jz class, etc. etc. etc.

not really because each generation class has specific rules for each engine also....

We had a meet that myself and another guy organized this year. We had

Fasted 7M powered Supra
Fasted 2J powered Supra
Fasted 1J powered Supra
Fasted n/a powered Supra

I think that is all and I think they SHOULD be engine specific personally

why should it not be in the same class as a mkiv? So an outlaw mustang should be classified as a mustang not other outlaws? I dont see the theory. Race cars are classified by their engine not the body.

Track was 24 CAD but 21 US and all day long! Prizes were of many. We had many sponsors and a couple of mags too ;) We gave out (IIRC) about 32 trophies in all for the meet.

Go to the last section (Results, Feedback, pictures etc) then go to the sticky thread (overall award recipients, certificates, misc stats, etc) it has all the awards and results and at the bottom it has the stats and expenses. Your Welcome.

You beat me to it
