why would you put a mkiii in with a mkiv class? i thought the 7m was just as good as teh 2jz and that the 1jz just sucked? RIGHT?

thats all irrelevant ....its the fact that its not a motor that came in the car... 7m,1jz, hell 1g lol .... those are mk3 class engines...

there has to be rules otherwise there would be no point in racing.

Ideals right about that we had the same problem at the supra meet at titian when that MKIII supra with 2j was mad they bumped him up to the MKIV class.

But I think it should be done by motor class or how deep you pockets are face it 10 grand in to a 7m will be faster then 10 grand spent on a 2j swap or pretty damn close either way both cool as hell.

If I spent all my money on a 2j swap instead of building up my 7m I would have a stock 2j with possible just 3 inch pipes and to me that nothing but bragging rights......And maybe something that wont get a BHG so easily Crosses fingers.

Yes, I think the 2jz in a mk3 is a non stock motor, but does it really matter?
If you really look at it, it is just an expensive modification done to a mk3. Spend the money on your 7m or spend the money on a 2jz swap, it is all just mods. Maybe they should just count the 2j as a power adder. Give the 7m turbo and the bottle for a total of two power adders, and then the 2j no bottle because the non stock swap is considered a power adder and the turbo would be the second power adder.

if I droped a chevy 502 into my MKIII I don't think that would be fair to be in the same class as all other 7m power MKIII's.

my 2 cents

i think a 2jz in a mk3 should be in some mk3 class... what class who knows. i like idealsupra's idea of having 3 classes... maybe even 4.... bone stock, stock, supermodified, and unlimited.

bone stock should be intake and catback, nothing else.
stock should be stock ct26, stock intake/exhaust manifold
supermodified should include any standard issue mk3 engine (7M, 1JZ, 1G) with any turbo setup
unlimited should include any engine, with any modification, including nitrous.

now youre just getting greedy :biglaugh:

im going to talk to peter and see if i can get an ok from him for three classes IF i can get maybe like at least 6 racers in each class? 18 mk3s running shouldnt be much.... hell we had over 40 at tx last year .....

i think that will solve ALL problems...

you pretty much have a MKIV attitude now, why not run them? :icon_conf
cause I dont have a mkiv.. I dont really care either way, I just want to race and have fun. But I see this time and time again, like mentioned before at the orlando supra meet it was there, now TX2k7 drag event, so just wanted peoples opinions.. just we are excluded from the mkiii crowd and not a part of the mkiv crowd..

Personally, I would like to see you run with the MKIV guys and beat the hell out of most of them. They can't drive worth a shit anyhow... That would be great to see. Most of them don't consider our cars to be a "supra" anyhow.

that would be funny as hell for a mkiii to win a mkiv class... but 99% of the time mkiv guys have deeper pockets then the mkiii guys..

I can totally see the logic for putting the 2J MkIII into a MkIII class. But what if I show up in a jet powered MkIII? If the only thing that was different was the fact that I had a Jet turbine in there what class would that fit into? What if I even still had the 7M powerplant in front so I could drive to the staging lanes instead of having to be towed? Heck... I'd want to run in ALL of the classes just to kick some serious Supra @$$! :)

The poblem is there is only a single class for the MkIIIs and MkIIs.

tissimo said something that we all have to remember here.

These events are about having "FUN". There are no points awarded for any type of national touring event - although in TX there is a little scratch handed out to the winner.

i like the one post about a 502 in a mkiii

sure bring it on out i'd run against you in a 7M mkiii

just cause its a 502 doesn't mean its fast theres alot of other factors,

is it tuned properly
tuned by a pro,
spray
S/C
put together by a shmuck or built by a huge reputable company??

just cause its a 502 doesn't mean its fast

i've seen dozens of big blocks get SPANKED and SLAUGHTERED by small blocks

so a BEEFY 7M can SPANK a 2J

shit one of the supra meets i had a slight BHG and i was on semoran racing a BPU MKIV on my stock ct26 and i was hanging with him all the way up to 140mph

but a 7M can't keep up with a 2J there's no way that was such an unfair race i think im gonna cry just from thinking about it.....

somebody call the whannnbulance, its all well and good you put a 2jz into your mk3, I would love to be able to do that too but don't start whining when people don't wanna run ya, lets face it a 1JZ has about as much bootom end torque as a rotary and the 7M has to be pretty high hp to play with ya and at least make a good run, yea the mk4's will stomp ya pretty good unless ya have a decent power advantage over them.

Basically quit whining, you should have seen it coming and be happy you got a badass mk3 that most mk3's don't wanna run, theres always vettes............

you have a lot of experience with a 1jz don't you?

This might have been posted already, I just didn't feel like reading everything.

If you put a 1jz or a 7m in a MKIV will they put it in the MKIII class?

MKIII denotes model year (generation) NOT engine.

you cant possibly use that as an example...because NO ONE would swap out a 2j for a 7m for sure and very very very rarely would they do it for a 1j (maybe if it was a NA 2j but they still prob wouldnt)

BUT if that was the case...yes i would say for it to run in the mk3 class accordingly.
