2 Questions - Exhaust System and Spark plugs

My father-in-law will weld the tank for me, but he wont do it on the car. There is a tank repair shop in town, gonna see what they think... but in the end, I will probably do it myself. First gas tank I have ever had leak. not bad for 30 years of driving

Very rarely do I hear of them leaking as so far as I've heard they're made out of stainless so they don't rust...

Where is it leaking from?

Yes, I would make that a DEFINATE have to drop the tank and make sure it's empty and purged, no way of welding it on the car safely...

I'm not quite sure where its leaking because it seems to pool on one end of the tank and then drip (not a large leak). It could be a pinhole but its odd because I haven't driven over any rocky ground or anything that would bounce up and perforate the tank. I'm going to have to find a hoist and take a better look (I really really really want to buy a hoist for the garage, probably the best thing in the world for those of us who want to work on their cars). Cant see a specific leak point yet, just a general area.. almost like its sweating.

Is it on the filler neck side? That's usually where it leaks if it does leak, and it's a simple gasket... If you don't fill the tank up all the way it usually stops as well (this is just ignoring the problem though)

Check the drain plug and its associated gasket

Might be all there is wrong with it.

Yep, that too, though the drain plug doens't usually leak unless it'e been removed...

Its on the fillerside.. and did leak after a fill...
Maybe thats why I dont see a hole...

No sorry, I have parked the car. I am self-employed and occasionally I get hit with a screaming deadline that requires I work from 8 a.m. to 12:00 am, and forget Saturdays and Sundays.... lol. So.. for the next couple days I will still be embedded in earning money to fix it, rather than fixing it. I just use the Cresseda until I can get it up to look at it.

If I get too many deadlines.. thats when I just throw the car at a mechanic and tell them to do it, because its a time issue.

The only "visual" inspection I have done leads to the fuel leaking from the same side as the filler nozzle, and there is gas/dirt above the lip. I cant see up there though, so the only way I can do a true inspection is to drop the gas tank. I am guessing I want an entire day free to do that so I can deal with other things as well when its down. But I will post here when I find out exactly what it is.

Yeah about those bolts... where are you from and more specifically the supra?

I have yet to see those fuel tanks bolts NOT be rusted extensively. Try soaking them overnight with PB blaster, Liquid Wrench etc. If that does not work, a JEWLERS torch (SMALL!) can be used to heat the nut but need to be carefull as afterall, there is some very flammable stuff in that tank

I daily drove my car in South Dakota and Minnesota for quite some time. Needless to say RUST. lol

What I wouldn't give for an Arizona car.. lol...

No, mine is in Calgary, AB (Canada) and as such.. they salt the roads. We are fairly dry (supposed to be a "drought" region), and I dont think this car has done much winter road time... but around here.. you usually have rust issues. Like my driver side wheel well!

I just spent about 1/2 hour digging dirt out of that quarter panel.. the inside metal is still good, but the wheel well can be punched through with just a little pressure from your finger. Spare tire compartment just has slight surface rust. All-in-all.. my car is fairly rust free compared to most cars this age where I live. My 88 Cresseda is rusted very badly.. lol.. hence... my winter car.
