This is too fuckin' cool !!! (Sorry to hijack your thread but you got my juices flowing.)

3969cc 1UZ engine.

Most data copied from "Specifications of the Lexus LS400 Four litre, qaud-cam, EFI V8 engine".

The 1UZ engine is an overhead cam, overhead valve engine with 8 cylinders in V formation.
Each cylinder has 2 inlet, 2 exhaust valves and a central spark plug.
The block and cylinder heads are all alloy with many plastic parts.
Uses a thin cast iron cylinder liner.
Each of the 2 cylinder heads has 2 over head cams.
Heads are of a cross flow type (inner inlet, exhaust outer).
Each of the 2 cylinder heads has its own distributor feeding 2 of its own spark plaugs and 2 plugs on the other bank.
Uses plastic head bolts and 6 plastic mains caps bolts for each piston.
Runs on leaded and unlead fuel but leaded fuel can destroy the catalytic convertor (if fitted).
Exterior dimensions are compact enough to fit into any RWD Celica (requires fitting of rack and pinion steering for clearance).
Inlet cams are driven by a single toothed belt underneath covers with automatic tensioner.
Exhaust cams are driven by gears from the inlet cams.
Valves are adjusted by shims.
Other accessories are driven by a single V ribbed belt with automatic tensioner.
Alternator, power steering pump and air condition pump are solidy mounted.
Factory fitted only with automatic (Castlemain Rod Shop has manual conversion kit).

What are my meaning by "m8"?

Are you meaning Metric as in 8mm? If so, not in the heads or mains. The heads are either 10mm or 11mm bolts (can remember off hand) and the mains are 10mm studs and 10mm side bolts. They are stretch bolts and studs, but are considered reusuable based on body diameter according to toyota. ARP does make studs for the entire motor they are expensive as hell. Head stud kit is like $350 and main stud kit is like $300. The rod bolts are the easy part. chevy LS1 rod bolts fit perfect.

Chris: Some are 90 some are 82 degrees!

I had a feeling that you were going to say that. Just like SAE most are 82, but some are 90....

Dam-it, why cant anyone be simple and just use one standerd specification.

Chris: "m8" is Kurt Geek Speak for "mate" ;)

LOL yep it would be nice if they settled on ONE standard for this sort of thing!

I grew up during the change to Metric here so speak both and still convert some things to imperial to give me a clearer mental picture!
