This is actually pretty funny - I was thinking of exactly this last night. With the 1jz being 2.5 liters, it'll get kicked a little to the left on the turbo's flow map - I think the CT26 would actually be more efficient on a 1jz than a 7m!

Great idea, I actually decided yesterday instead of getting another 7m and rebuilding it in the future I would just go 1j since the swap looks pretty easy.

I was thinking I would hate to buy a new down pipe or rebuild or upgrade my CT and it go to waste but this opens alot of doors for me.

Keep us all posted on your progress.

Uh IIRC, Ct20bs and CT26s are pretty much the same turbo, except there's a minor difference (which I can't remember).

smaller on the exhaust side for better spool on smaller engines. a.k.a. 3SGTE.

I was just about to mention that... twin ct20b's or 3S ct26's...

But I think a 60trim dual BB CT on a 1JZ would be teh mayor of awesomeland.

Nice work Aaron. Glad to see people taking different routes, especially not listening to the nay sayers.
I like that setup of using 7m parts as well for bolt ups.
Some of those 7m part developers should give you a special treat for opening up their market :)
Awesome work man.

The vvti 1jz comes out with a CT15B turbo
And i would hazard a guess that price, age, and the fact that there arent as many vvti powered cars sitting in wreckers may have something to do with lack of availability. well thats what it is down here in NZ anyway

Did it? The VVti engine turbo is not talked about much of...why???

Because it never came in the mkiii and would make the 1jz swap a lot harder.

Oh and i like this ct26 idea, cheap single swap is definately ftw.

i thought there was a vvti 1j that came w/ a ct-26??? just thought i'd mention that, don't know how hard it would be to locate a mini. off of one of those, but the setup you've got right now, looks perfectly fine to me

edit: see the vvti was already mentioned... ct15 aye???

beacuse of the fact that many people have spent 300+ on downpipes makes it a great idea. add on top of that the number of upgraded ct26's floating around only adds to the appeal. great job.
