just finished doing the 1jz swap and it idles so smooth!!! But as soon as i give it throttle it wants to die, if i go super slow and build up rpm's then give it more throttle its fine. i can put up a video but its kinda hard to tell.
what could be causing this issue, i checked, coil packs (there fine) gapped spark plugs to .028 (bkr7e) no vac leaks. thanks for the help! this is a cold start and the second time it has ever started since the swap.

checked all connectors, they seem fine.

when i checked the spark plugs they were all black.

cleaned them off and the made sure they were gapped good, but still want to stall out.

no codes, and everthing looks good as far as plugs go, and all grounds are connected and tight. it kinda seems like it floods or it gets starved of fuel when i press the throttle fast, but the plpugs are black so i dout its lack of fuel.

map sensor is there, its just behind the harness.

jono, i will check that out, ive done it on the 7mgte. is it the kinda the same for the jz engine?

i have never even been past 3k rpm's and when i took off my oil cap it had the milky crap already!!!!! is it just because the engine has been sitting for so long and i just need to get the condensation out? i am going to do a compression test to make sure its all good!

It Could be condensation.

What is your idle? If it's at 1000 you back it down to 750-800 and adjust the tps.

idle is at about 750 to 700. tps is getting adjusted right now.

can the tps being off, make the spark plugs turn black with soot? they dont have any oil on them, its only unburnt fuel.

TPS plays a huge roll. you tps can be off and not throw a code. Although i'm not sure what would cause your spark plugs to be black like that (not that quick anyways). i have the same plugs (as does most 1j owners) hmmmmm.....I'm going to work and i'll do some thinking about it while i'm out. good luck!

I think this might be the reasone for it stalling out, i go very lean as soon as i give it gas, i should go rich as soon as i give it gas! i need to put in new fuel pump and new fuel filter i had saving for this kind of thing.

I'm having the exact same issue. Idles good but when i give it gas, it bogs out. does the tps adjust by rotating it ? and i guess ill be rechecking the ground.

i have checked and adjusted the tps on a 7mgte but the information is inconsistanton for the 1jz when i google it. so untill im fur sure im not touching it. i am amlost done putting in the walbro and new fuel filter. and by 2pm Ill now if that was it...... i had the wideband on my 7mgte when the tps was out of whack and my A/F's never went lean like that when i free revved it.

kuwugata, how do your plugs look?

put in the new fuel pump and filter and it did not fix the problem. i guess i will be taking off the throttle body to check the tps to see if its the culprit.

its weird that both of are brand new plugs turn black. sounds like are issue's are the same to the tee.

if its not the tps, i wonder if its the O2 sensor.
