Check the cam bearing saddles in the head. They will need some work most likely.

Because it's been machined, or because it's possible the head may have gone soft?

Because they wear badly, especially towards the rear where oiling is the weakest.

Yah - i just read the post you made a few years back about it - will check them, too. I'm hoping the wear won't be too bad, considering it's a fairly low mileage engine that's been well maintained during its life.

Plastigage them and then make your decision.

Good to hear you're getting back into it Kai Just curious, where and how do you get the head hardness tested? Did you find a place that does it?

Machine shop should be able to measure the brinnell hardness of the head - there are a few near me that i could take it to.
