    Code 61

I have a 1990 supra turbo, automatic, ABS. It's throwing a transmission code 61, #2 speed sensor. If I understand the bible properly the ECT gets it's #2 sensor signal from the ABS computer, not the actual sensor. The ABS computer is not throwing any codes, so I should be safe to assume that...

Will a newer climate control work with older Supras?

I'll have to take another look at the owners manual, see if there's any mention in there of airbag. Can't remember for sure. Edit: I am wrong. Owners manual shows only US spec had SRS air bag, and the car has none of the related airbag electronics. Jeff is the man!

Drill size to use for 1/8 NPT tap?

It's not so complicated, just seems that way because the 1/8 refered to in the NPT (National Pipe Taper) designation is the nominal inside diameter of the pipe, no reference at all to the thread diameter. (Pipe is measured ID to 12" diameter, then it switches to OD measurement.) Note I said...

idle problem after letting off gas

Quick blink means no stored codes I believe. I also believe you are normally going to get a code 51 if you depress the throttle with the check connector jumpered. Mine had the same kind of problem (occasional stalling when the accelerator was let off abruptly, mine's an automatic) but there...

    Front main seal STUCK!

Did all that oil come from the front main, or is the exhaust side cam seal leaking as well?

    CPS issue

That's correct. The CPS as shown in the pictures is pretty much lined up for #1 TDC Compression stroke. Now is the crank lined up the same way? #1 TDC exhaust stroke will also line up the timing mark on the damper. Follow the TSRM to find TDC.

    Oil Analysis inside!

I'd say that you need a baseline. (Analyse new oil.) Then you need to decide on an interval (preferably an hour interval, not a mileage interval) that you want to perform analysis at, every 400 hours of run time, or whatever. Oil changes would be best performed at an hour interval as well. The...

    auto trans buzzing

My buzzing was the converter. The pump and valve body was also full of clutch/brake fines. Suprra girl, did you find a reason for your #2 speed sensor code? (Code 61) I have that one, but havn't gotten very far in diagnosis. Too many other problems to fix first.

    Dual Piston Previa Caliper

You are absolutely correct. That's what happens when you use 4.11 as the basis of your calculations instead of 4.41. :icon_conf Dyslexia anyone?

    14" or 16" Electric fan(s) on my car ?

2001 tacoma V6 is the one I have. In all honesty, it's a very nice looking unit, the clutch looks beefier, bigger fins, nice orange hub, etc., but I do not notice that it works better than the stocker myself.

    Dual Piston Previa Caliper

Stock: 4.11 sq/inch Previa:4.81 sq/inch Using measurements given above. So approx. 17% :nono: (wrong. 9%):icon_conf more clamping power. However, as pointed out above, if you can lock them with the stock calipers, you won't gain anything. (If your supra has ABS, as mine does, they don't...

    Piston protrusion specs on 7m-gte

Wiseco has something to say, they may even be right. Of course these are not factory pistons... http://www.nolimitmotorsport.com/wiseco/apps-Toyota.html

Ahh, look at the bright side. Every one that get's butchered/crashed makes the rest worth more.

    Hot wheel

On mine the piston was half-siezed in it's bore, no problem with the slides. This was a pretty obvious problem, even a large c-clamp would not force the piston back in it's bore easily. I considered rebuilding the caliper myself, then discovered that a "fully loaded" caliper was only about $80...

Will a newer climate control work with older Supras?

Hi, sorry to resurrect this old thread I found while looking for something... How sure are you about the '92 airbags? I have a '90 with driver's airbag, and the warranty card and so on says the car was originally sold in Vancouver.

    Snapped a timing belt

Damaged sprockets will destroy belts as well. "Oops, dropped that cam sprocket, nobody saw, I'll just throw it on there, quick like." All it takes is one nice burr in the wrong place.

    Overheating question, sort of.

Yah, that's a point about the FIPG, I just hate to do it because it makes cleanup harder next time, however... one does what one has to. I cleaned what little debris there was out and straightened all the bent fins on the condenser when I had the rad out for it's recore.

    Overheating question, sort of.

Unfortunately water wetter wasn't a mircle cure... Took it for a run up the devil's hill and it did it's usual. As soon as the temp climbed over half I pulled over and popped the hood while it idled and cooled. All three condensor fans running, clutch fan engaged, lots of pressure in the...

    Overheating question, sort of.

I think maybe I'm not making the problem clear. The car passes compression test and shows no sign of BHG, though I havn't done a coolant system exhaust gas test. (There's a specific name for it, it escapes me at the moment.) It has a felpro head gasket tourqued to 72 lb/ft for whatever that's...
