About 2 or 3 months ago I started noticing coolant coming out of my reservoir bottle. I saw abosolutely no oil/water mix after oil change. I was thinking the worst (anal retentive that I am) so I bought a NAPA Block Test Kit. Sure enough, the blue fluid turned yellow. So while I asume the...
I plan to buy a new throttle position sensor for my 89 NA. One of the plastic elliptical holes broke where you screw it onto the throttle body and it moves around somewhat. Here is what I would like to know. When I buy it, do I just screw it on right out of the box or does it need to be...
Hey Surf,
Why don't ya e-mail me at j_calautti@yahoo.com and if you ain't too far I'll drive over and see if I can help. I just went through a "fast idle" problem and got that solved. As payback, you can show me the junkyard with 6 MKIII's. I'm sure they'll have something I can use. In my...
I had the oil in the spark plug chamber problem (though not 2 inches worth), so I ran out and bought new valve cover gaskets. Went through all the trouble of gettin to the old ones and they were fine. I couldn't tell the difference from the new ones. I did buy hex head bolts with a rounded...

I want to change my valve cover gaskets and need to remove Y pipe at intake. There is a gasket there and the TSRM says it is part no. 17128. Autozone has no idea what I'm talkin about. Is there a name for that gasket?

I have heard that with older cars, these octane boosters and "fuel cleaners" can remove carbon deposits, which may not be the best thing because sometimes that is what is keeping the valves sealed. Knock it out and you can mess up an engine that was running well.
My 2 cents

I bought a Bosch O2 sensor for 50 US dollars and had good results. Very simple install, two bolts on exhaust manifold and reconect wire. Spent half hour looking for sub-sensor till I realized I was looking at pics of California smog set-up, lol.
