just because there is continuity between those 2 locations doesn't mean the tach will work. don't ask me why but when i was doing the swap i had continuity there and my tach still didn't work. i had to resolve this in other ways..
Just pretty much finished my 1j swap into an 86 mk3. don't make the mistake i did and find the cheapest clip possible(flashoptions). it turns out to be more expensive than jarco or some other reputable clip importer after you've finished replacing all the broken shit they send you. also it's not...
kurisu, i used the tach out of turbo car. my uncle says it should work for the jz tach as well. i don't know if you had an na before but i can email you pics if you want. pm or post me your email. won't be till this weekend though.
when i was looking at the back of the cluster that came with my clip i noticed that the ign- and ign+ were going to the same place on the tach circuit board, not reversed. anyways, i am going to do more testing this weekend.....i am sure it has something to do with my wiring.
slidingsidewayz.....what year is the car your putting the 1j in. and what kind of motorset clip did you get(year).... just wanted to know if we had anything in common....
i didn;t think that the cluster was the problem. all the signal are there, so unless the signal coming from the tach is wrong(maybe being interupted in some way). i am at a total loss.
won't be able to check till the middle of the week now to see if swapping the turbo cluster works. but will post when i try. if someone else has had to do this and have it work, let us know!!
