I'm all about what you're trying to do. When I bought my car the first thing I did was rebuild the motor. Then I bought coilovers, MKIV TT rims with nice tires, sway bars, and now I'm working on body myself. It's all your preference man, do what makes you happy.
One thing I can say is that...
Looks pretty good man. I also did mine in red. The only thing I would suggest is that you don't use the hobby model translucent paint. IF you are doing red or blue (these are available in automotive stores) buy them. If you want something else then go with the model paint. The reason I say...
Hmmm... setting the hood on the windshield? Sounds like you're asking for a damaged hood/windshield/wipers/paint.
Doing major work, then just take off the hood. Popping it for routine oil/coolant/battery/whatever check, lift supports are the way to go. And WOW! people can't spend $30-50...
I put in a test pipe and the tip of my muffler turned black (only on the inside) because I'm running on the rich side. And mine will only smell like gas on start up and maybe a LITTLE bit when it's just at idle.
I did all the work myself. The one thing I have left to do is fiber glass the center tail light (89+) into the welded up molding. Good luck if you go to do it yourself! It's not that hard skill-wise but takes a lot of time and it helps to be a perfectionist type of person.
LOL! Talk me...
Wow, didn't realize that you were in the area! Thanks for the offer too, I might have to take you up on it sometime. Right now I don't have a garage so I'm looking for a new place, either Moscow or Pullman, that has a shop I can work in over the winter.
I have a temporary engine in the car...
Thanks for looking guys, glad you think it looks "ok" so far :)
Yeah, sadly I feel the same way... In person it looks a LOT better than that pic. But it's still only primer, I'm afraid once it has nice candy paint (black) on it I'm not going to like the shave :( I've photoshopped the...
Are you talking about filling in the groove in the actual sheet metal or just flattening out the moldings themselves?
If I were doing the moldings I think I would use fiberglass with a flexible resin. The fiberglass filler is nice for somethings but I just doing know how well it would...
lkfasdhflkashf;sldajk WTF?!!?!
I have Tein coilovers and I'm no where near the bottom and they rub. The front tires rub the entire inner fender plastic and before I rolled the lips they were scraping the shit out of my tires. The rear will actually have so much negative camber that the...
Sick....I miss my Teggy :( :( :(
I'm doing all the work myself and I'm only on my second coat of primer. $300 so far. Looking to keep it under $1500 total.
I think the front fender there looks awesome with the black/chrome. Like the others said, I couldn't do it with any other color but black and you NEED those rims for it to look good.
Nice work though! I'm curious to see what it looks like after you get all the other trim pieces on.
Inventor > Pro-E > Solidworks > MasterCamX > Solid Edge
Nice work on the engine so far man. I'm sure you'll get all the details properly ironed out as long as you don't burn out on the project :)
Now that I have a job where I use ProE, AutoCAD and MasterCam all day I don't really have the...
