Project Git 'er done!: Stages 1, 2, 3,...NOW FOUR!

If your going with the Spec 2+ clutch, so far I am loving mine. Good hold, although there is a tiny bit of shudder in first gear (probably because I am using stock flywheel...)

    tips for machining

I know the feeling. Dealing with shit parts from "wont mention who it is yet... " has cost me about 1400.00 in wasted labor costs and shipping... and any time I talk to this "community respected company" (again.. not mentioning the name), I get told things like... "it only takes 15 minutes to...

    1992 Black/Shadow Grey Turbo Targa - Build/Restoration thread

Excellent build so far. Love seeing a '92.. I have never seen one in person though.. lol. 91's and 92's are just damn hard to find.

    Wheel Fitment & Question Thread

lol.. treat everyone with respect.. even idiots. You never know when one makes housecalls... : P and yeah.. looking at the tire sizes, he did do it purposefully but I think his head is on wrong. The width/sidewall ration looks correct to give you correct stance, but not with a 1" smaller front...

    New guy from Chicago

Honest answer is no. They are "nice" to have, but not really necessary. Once people go with a higher power output on these cars, they usually stiffen the suspension (also to drop it a bit to get rid of the wheel gap in the wells). I had TEMS, now I have HDS Coilovers. The ride is a LOT different...

    Wheel Fitment & Question Thread

no, I would go same size all the way around, just remember that your percentages change with width. So... if you have a 9.5 rear, your sidewall width % will be smaller than the front to go same height all the way around. If you go 17's on the front you will need more sidewall or your nose will...

    New guy from Chicago

Nice Start and welcome to the forums. Advice from me? Do it slowly and if its your only car, plan very well in advance. Talk through your build here for any input prior to doing anything and do your own research as well. There are a lot of paths for doing things, but the best way to do it is...

    Project Super Slow

Just a note regarding the oil pan. (someone can chime in) You need to soak it with a good chemical bath... having a brain fart moment so can't remember what to recommend.. lol. You have to make sure that hidden area is clean under the metal plate inside the pan. It collects a lot of crap down...

Installed DM "new" 7MGTE Intercooler.. question about boost...

Well, Im not the first to run the core in a MK3... (I dont think). Its a CXRacing core.. http://www.cxracing.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=CXR&Product_Code=KIT-7MGTE-IC10-IC0010-25-A&Category_Code=ICKTY So, I think its a proven core. All I know is that currently (without looking...

Installed DM "new" 7MGTE Intercooler.. question about boost...

Basically, there are only 3 things a person would need to worry about then... 1. The core is too small or piping restrictive (as in the stock) 2. The core and/or piping is too big (whereas you wont be able to build enough flow so actually hurt performance... 3. The intercooler piping and/or core...

Installed DM "new" 7MGTE Intercooler.. question about boost...

That was my original thinking but my reading states there is a pressure drop, depending on the size of the pipes and core. It's too cold and snowy right now but it is going back in to be tested hopefully this week.

Then why has my max psi at the wastegate dropped from 10 psi to 7 psi?

My black widebody MKIII with 2JZ-GTE and V-160

Its definitely sleeker looking and I understand how you kinda have no choice, but it looks more like a SuperSupra now.. lol. It just progressed far past what Toyota intended... :)

Looking for some parts to get the Supra back on the road..

yes, I bought the HKS downpipe and exhaust (3") and it didn't have the elbow so I bought an elbow that was totally garbage. Returned the downpipe and got the Raptor Racing DDP with the integrated elbow and all is good. I do notice that the 57 trim (when it was on my car) had a nicer spool than...

Installed DM "new" 7MGTE Intercooler.. question about boost...

yeah, the confusing part is that I was assuming 10 PSI would be consistant throughout, but it drops traveling to the intake manifold so the manifold pressure is less. I am assuming that with higher pressure, the air flows faster (slower actually as that's the nature of increased pressure, but...

Talked to my mechanic. They are going to smoke test it.. just to be sure, however, I think I understand what is happening now. So.. basics... 7MGTE Driftmotion (CXRacing) Intercooler - thier "new" one with both pipes on the same side 60-1 CT26 Turbo HKS 3000 pipe + custom pipe to the fender...
