    I'm an Astronaut!!

Grimsta, how long have you been doing track stuff? I run the NASA auto-x series in Mid Atlantic region now but my plan is to make this a time trial car, gotta work through the HPDE levels to get there. If you want to trade insight/tips let me know. Too bad it's opposite coasts, I'd like to see...

Here's a vid of my runs, some close competition in D with 4 street tire folks within 1 second of each other, I ended up second on street tires after coning away the same time as the winner. (Fast STS guys don't come to these events, I'm sure they'd beat us easily)...

    Weight Reduction for Road Racing

Jive, Scca is strict on classing though, make sure they'll allow those removals. Replacement seats removed about 50 lbs. (net loss) and I was able to run 235/255 on 17x9/17x10 while losing 20 lbs. over the stock wheels/tires. Yuo sure about the battery? I run an 11lb. Odyssey one which is...

    Weight Saving

Doc, care to share any details on the car? You can PM if you don't want to post. Some insight may help in my enduring quest to catch the Sti's and other more 'competitive' cars. Brian

How strong is the stock rear end?

Ahh, overseas. I was wondering where you're able to do 150+ for extended times. I've done high speeds for extended periods on the clutch diff but not that high of a speed. Even most straights are ~1500-3000' so it's not that long of a run either. Now if you were autobahn/lakebed racing, that...

How strong is the stock rear end?

Why would those bearings wear any faster than the other diffs? They're the same P/Ns AFAIK (I sure hope so, they're the only ones offered) The differences are in the unit itself and the axle shafts, the ring & pinion is interchangible.

How strong is the stock rear end?

Rare? I've got two sitting in the garage. One 4.10 and the 3.73 I'm building :naughty: I'll probably sell one vs. swapping for different tracks but I wouldn't recommend the torsen for drag launching. The problem with clutch types is the clutches wear over time/use. This leads to reduce...

Here's a vid from this weekend and the results: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4859920980103623125 Results: http://www.get-fast.net/nasacross/81207res.htm A little more competition showed up for this one and the STi and Cobra I'm usually dueling with had both switched to R'...

How strong is the stock rear end?

Keep in mind with a clutch type LSD, the clutches are there to slip taking some load. With a gear type, there's nothing able to slip. Toyota rears are pretty strong, I've read about offroad guys using them for years.

Thanks Grimsta, I saw your post on the SOGI list and sounded like you were impressed with them. If I can find some funds I might try a set for next season. Brian

Anyone run the A1 rear camber arms?

How much camber are yall trying to run? I can get up to -2.1 deg. with OEM toe and ~-1.1 on the other end of the spectrum. Are you looking for close to zero rear camber? How do these mount to the subframe end, there is no bushing in the pic, I'm assuming the spherical end is to subframe and the...

It's the SSQV but without the finned insert. It has a fitting to reroute to the intake but then realized I couldn't because it sits in the wrong location and won't line up.

Thanks, more fuel/air also I ran it to get around boost cut (was ~11/12 psi) now I run 14/15. I'm running rich (9.6:1) but hope to tune some soon with the MAFT Pro.

    Torsen

I've heard the US half shafts can be modified to work with the torsen but I didn't try it so I sought some JDM pieces. It's not together yet but hopefully will be very soon.

    Torsen

How many of you folks breaking torsens are using them for drag on slicks? They're not meant to be launched on with soft tires. Also, by design they don't wear out, no wear surface like clutch types.

    Suspension setup q's?

I've been autoxing on my Tokicos for 1.5 seasons. They've been on the car for ~3 years. No leaking noticed so far.... Maybe some batches are bad? I replaced the old Tokico fronts when this set went on (was a couple years old) and one was weak (didn't rebound at a steady rate) Brian

Which event are you talking about? Grimsta, I've thought about the Megans just don't know anything about the shocks. I've heard stiff spring require a well valved shock to operate correctly. I was planning to build my own setup using Bilsteins and their adjustable sleeves but they're only...

I believe they'll be warranted, at least with Koni's big name they should.
