It could be your plugs if not coil packs. Try ngk 6097 and gap to .028. These plugs are cheap you know so money isn't wasted if it don't help. Personally, when I changed mine with 6097 my 1j revs all the way to red line without misfire.
I'll be doing this also when I get my solid mounts. I use a block of woods to raise it high enough. My question is can the mounts be taken out without removing the brackets?
sorry for the thread jack...
leak down and compression tests should tell you about the health of the motor. But nothing beats actually running it to hear and make sure no rod knocks .... My half clip had a video that it was started and ran before I bought it from jarco.
You can order mp turbo from partsexpressonline.com. I'm getting a T61 from them. Good feedback from ppl that are using these turbos and good price too.
A full 2j can get very expensive. Why not just put the 1J block back in. You made 500+ hp with it and at least you can still drive your car. Save the $$ later then go 2J. Just a thought !!!
cheers...
Damn nice project. My brother had a 280 with a small block chevy back in the 80's. It was tearing up every cars in Brooklyn like mad max. It was a freaking rocket. :evil2:
^^^ that happened to me once but I was able to pull over pretty quick and fix it.
Damn that sucks that your 1J grenaded. Didn't you just finish this swap not too long ago? I guess if you wanted to go 1.5j that would be an excuse or you can always swap another 1j block fairly inexpensive.
If it's not boosting anymore time to go single or get another set. My twins still boost like crazy even when it smokes a bit at idle not too bad though. Hope mine last till summer when I plan to go single.
