Visually it doesn't mean much. Send a 3,000 or more mile oil sample to someplace like Blackstone Labs. The silicone levels in your oil will tell you how much dirt is getting in your motor, and the amount of fuel in your oil will indicate how much blowby you've developed by scouring your...
You've given two aspects of a turbo, not a turbo model.
A T4 is a flange size/style. There are thousands of turbos that follow this spec.
A .68 A/R is the aspect ratio of either the turbine or compressor housing.
These two things don't describe a specific turbo.
The hardtops are lighter and the chassis is more rigid, this tends to be a good platform for a road course car. But yes, the hardtops are far more rare. The turbo hardtops are absolutely rare. (Only about 300 total sold in the US over all MKIV model years.) There's a site hosted on this server...
I have yet to see a single pic of an "HKS Sport Turbo" that had this. I'm not saying it's untrue, I've just never seen it. Anyone tried to contact Reg Reimer on this? Reg would know.
It's a bit high for an auto targa. It it were a 5-spd hardtop I'd jump on it. Since it's an auto, I'd negotiate it down a bit.

I honestly wouldn't even mess with a VPC these days. There are too many better options at this point.

I'll get the press, etc setup another time. I need to get some sleep tonight.

This is the fifth time I've seen that failure on a 7M in the last 20 years. Once during assembly after a rebuild, twice in the car shortly after a rebuild, last one was months later and now yours. How long has this motor been in the car? Was the block hot tanked before assembly? I'm trying to...
