.380 is in very high demand these days. It's sometimes hard to get, and often it's about 50% more expensive than 9mm. (However if the difference between a $9 and a $13 box of ammo is a problem....)
That's a good price. From what I've heard from people with 1st hand knowledge of these is that you need to run a couple of boxes of ammo through them before they are "broken in" and work flawlessly. Misfeeds aren't uncommon in the 1st box of ammo, but they tend to not happen after the gun has...

It's used for both fuel and spark calculations, so it's not easy to trick one without messing with the other.
