hm... the previous owner of my car had some issues with a leak up top. he fiddled with the CPS and the cam seals, eventually he figured out that one of the galley plugs was leaking.... (after replacing valve cover gaskets and cam seals)
the one that got it was running a RPS triple plate O_o. It'd be fair to assume that the owner treated his car with disdain, and disregard (like most rich people would)
should look into getting some rx7 wheels (14 lbs) almost half the weight of the ones you've got ATM

not sure if you've tried this too, but the stock intake can (resonator) should actually give you a bit more power...
It's happened to me before. Could be your top was just being particular? One of my 89's was like that. Didn't leak but every once in a blue moon you'd get a stray drop of water.

I've been offered 12k for one of my 89's (in 2007), granted the factory paint, trim, ect was spotless, and so was the interior. But it wasn't worth selling to me. the only mods that car had was 20k mile jdm engine...
