As I've said many times, the weak link in the MKIII more often than not is the owner. Other than the incorrect headgasket torque spec, the car is an engineering marvel. It was well ahead of its time.

5w30 synthetic is just about perfect for a 2JZ-GE. If you run something high quality like German Castrol, AMSOil, Royal Purple or Redline, you should be able to do a filter only change at 4,000 and run the oil for 8,000 easily.
