I agree with poodles. Lapping the valves is not bad, just a little timing consuming. I did lap the valves on a 1JZ head I sold, completely rebuilt with seals, a mill and just a lapping job with valve adjustment. I used Permatex valve paste BUT there is a better one but I cannot find it at any...
What you should do is get gas, fill up each port on the head and watch for leaks.
Place the head on its side, intake or exhaust side up. You can only do one side at a time.
Six cylinders, one port on each side per cylinder and two valves on each side per cylinder.
Fill each port with the gas...
Jack up the transmission and push the engine back toward the firewall. It will slip in the grove.
Take a picture of the mounts and post it so we can make sure those are the right mounts for your car.
That's not an issue. I am sure you could mock something up to get it to read. You don't want something to make it run perfect, but just a setup so it can read and give a good signal so the stock computer can run off of it. It might just show that the VPC is bad.
I believe so. The guy in that link said he has used them in his head.
For assurance, call Ferrera or BC or the vendor you will get your valves from and ask for the spec on the valve stem diameter and then mic your 1JZ valve stems and see.
You can refer to the 2JZ TSRM, Google that term and...
Mine did this when they were out of spec and left the valves open. Since it ran fine before, the only thing I see what you will need is a standalone.
Have you checked for any vacuum leaks? Also, what cams are in there?
I was looking for this before. The STOCK 1JZ Exhaust valve is 1MM BIGGER than the 2JZ Exhaust valve.
Stock 2JZ Intake valves are 2.6MM bigger than 1JZ Intake Valves.
So you can get 2JZ Valves. 2MM Exhaust and Stock Intake.
So with those valves, you will have 1MM bigger exhaust and 2.6MM...
It's thought I'd throw an update in here. I haven't done much to my car. I have been driving it a lot and enjoying it before pulling it down and doing some more upgrades. Here is what the bay look like currently.
I don't know why it looks sloppy by the brake cylinder, it's really neat...
