so i have a code 51 and i've read the sticky by jetjock and all but when i check for the resistance between E2 and IDL nothing happens, it just reads 1 the whole time. so i took the TPS off and checked for resistance again and it deflects right before its fully turned. so is it not able to fully...
yeah thats the one. i got mine used from tubbie and he put down something like 350hp with it and it handled that. i'm sure there was no speed shifting or anything like that so you should be good to go.
i've got a centerforce dual friction clutch. i'm running around 11psi right now with a 3" turbo back exhaust, ic pipes, and intake. the clutch holds great and i'm only planning on making a little over 300hp with it. the clutch is only $350 on some sites.
well i'm definitely gonna fine the cause. i'm not blaming the gauge or anything. i've been told by a friend that judging by the way the needle spiked then fell and quite working that it sounded like an electrical problem. so its possible the sending unit is just bad, even though its brand new.
^^
i took apart my oil pump and check clearances and all were within spec. theres no clanking or knocking noises so i don't think i have the problem that guy had. my oil pump is a brand new AISIN oem. hopefully its nothing like that guys pump blowing up.
i was thinking about getting an aftermarket gauge, since i wanted one anyway. maybe i'll get one sooner than i thought. while its running i looked under the oil cap and i can see some oil sloshing around but not as much as i would think there would be.
i just finished swapping in a rebuilt 7mgte in to my '88 na. i shimmed the oil pump 5mm. at first the oil pressure gauge was showing great pressure, within spec. then while i was breaking in the motor the gauge needle spiked all the way to the top then fell all the way down and stopped working...
man that sucks. the same thing happened to me with my first block. the pitting was so bad it couldn't be used. i have a spare block, too bad you're so far away.
not sure if you're thinking about the same bracket. i'm talking about the one that bolts the end of the transmission to the chassis. don't think you'd want to leave that one off.
my hks downpipe hits the transmission mount bracket to the point where i can't bolt the bracket on. the guy i bought the dp from modified it to a full 3" so theres no flex section anymore. right at the end of the dp it bends towards the middle of the car and hits the tranny bracket. i'm stuck on...
sweet. that color would look pretty good. i have a friend that'll be spraying my hood, bumper, and nose panel pretty soon. he also painted my rims for me. not sure if he's ever painted a whole car but i'm sure he knows of some good shops around our area. i can ask him for you if you want.
