    7m-ftw build

Went out and made some progress today. Got the egr cooler on, upper intake mani, exhaust mani, lower timing cover and crank pulley, upper front timing color, rail and injectors, knock sensors and ran the harness some. Next time I plan on getting the turbo on. Just got the intake mani...

    Confidence in my swap

Well yea noob I forgot to mention you. If it was just me building it I'd be buying a shell to put it in. I hope it can go in before chrizma.

    Confidence in my swap

Yea...i'd like to have it done before christmas. I have some friends coming into town that I'd like to show the new engine. I just don't want to rush anything though...too many people do that and end up blowing things on these engines. Cheaping out is something I have definitely not done with...

    Confidence in my swap

Well I am the one who is building it, but I feel pretty good about it. Everything I have done so far is within spec according to the TSRM. I haven't chaaped out anywhere or anything. I supposed my biggest concern is a sensor going bad or something and getting stuck.

    Confidence in my swap

I have a 89 n/a that I am doing a full gte swap with. The engine should be done in the next week or two. My only problem is that I am 2 hours away from my house for school. I also work here where I go to school. I need the engine to be reliable enough to get to and from my job and home over the...

    7m-ftw build

I took the white cover off to just leave the letters behind and it looks much better. I will get a picture sometime. Went out again last week and got the oil pump driveshaft in. That guy was fun, but we got the bearings down to size so it's all good to go. Just waiting on a few bolts to get...

I am an oil pump shaft noob

yea that's my problem is I don't have stuff like that. I wish there was a machine shop closer to me. I pretty much have just enough tools to get the engine together. The closest shop to me is probably 1.5 or 2 hours.

I am an oil pump shaft noob

I've seen that some people will sand the bearings down themselves until they can get it in. Is this ok to do?

I am an oil pump shaft noob

I ended up getting it off by using a pry bar and a 5 lb sledge hammer. Only took 4-5 somewhat light taps. It didn't even damage the pulley. The bearings are still very smooth and were not damaged. Is there any downside to just sanding down the driveshaft itself? This would be easier for me to do...

I am an oil pump shaft noob

yea it was lubed. I tried putting the pulley on and it still wouldn't come out that way.

I am an oil pump shaft noob

My block had the oil pump shaft bearings replaced when it was getting machine work done. From what I NOW understand the bearings come oversized and need to be sanded down a little or something. Well I put the shaft in today and it won't come back out OR move. I know this was a dumb move so I do...

    mhg sealer

    Something like this?
  19. hornet7288

    mhg sealer

I bought a 2.2mm mls mhg from SIP racing. It did not come with any type of sealer on it. The guy from SIP racing said it did not need any, but instead an RA value of 50 would be ok. I searched a little and couldn't find what this is and really whether or not I should use spray sealer. The only...
