Wont need to, I have an 88 hardtop i'm going to be transfering EVERYTHING into. 89 Front end, 89 rear end, drive train, hood, instrument panel, intercooler & piping, front and rear subframes, blah blah blah. Its gonna be 1 big PITA!
Well more progress. Started taking MY 7M apart because I decided to not go with the parts car engine. So I got the head off and its at the machinist now getting resurfaced, new seals put in, valves and seats cut. Next will be the block for decking, honing and a crank polish...
I have a raked drive way and like I said NEVER heard my targa EVER creak.
So far thats 3 of us, and you can rely on that fact I am most certianly NOT lying. I've also had 2 very quite customer's cars I know havent creaked either. They were all 100% stock and very well kept. Very quiet inside...
Its evidence of a bunch of added heavy metal but its not evidence of rigidity. I never hear my targa creak or anything. However I believe i'll stick with the orginal plan of transfering EVERYTHING over to my hardtop
So far this thread is 5 pages of sort of hear-say, good info, but nothing really concrete. I'm sort of less concerned about overall weight, because of all the weight reductions I will be doing. I've already removed about 325lbs from the vehicle according to the weights listed in the TRDSupra.com...
Well looks like i'll be strippin down the 88 hardtop and transfering all my equipment over to it from the 89. Damn, so much work its gonna suck but a little extra weight saving and chassis rigidity is definatley tough to pass up
Nice, however i'm not looking at having to chisel all the sound deadening out of this thing again after having already done it to my current vehicle, ugh
I used a few cans of brake cleaner sprayed in the inlet and up from the bottom. Sprayed several times. I would spray, drain, spray, drain, spray, drain, let it sit for a little while then spray and drain again. Finally I sprayed a bunch and blew it out with VERY LIGHT air. If you just blow...
If its swirling its supposed to be good. But like I mentioned our reservoir was swirling and it was still bad somehow.
SO Suprahero and the other guy. Did you guys try puttin new reservoirs in your cars? Are you guys still havin this problem?
I've been looking for that as well, cant find any. Not even at TRDsupra.com.
I just picked up an 88 hardtop shell parts car. I've been considering parthing the whole thing out and then transfering my drivetrain and suspension, subframes and EVERYTHING else essential from my 89 into the hardtop...
Most recent updates. Got the motor out of MY car & the motor out of my PARTS CAR. Right now MY engine and tranny are just gonna chill while I build the spare engine and then transfer everything over to it and drop it back in.
horrible picture
at least with a freshly rebuilt...
Well taking some test runs around the roads by the shop, the old engine apparently didnt like the fresh turbo or 10psi and decided to let loose with something. It started to sound like a WRX and deployed its Stealth Attack smoke screen again so back into the shop it went. Compression is actually...
SOLUTION
To all my homies out there suffering the same problem, it was IJ's favorite word, the RESERVOIR.
I had cleaned the old one until all of the gunk and crap was clear out of it but there was still something wrong with it. All the fluid inside it would drain out the bottom rapidly and...
